Kansas City's Underground Rap & Hip-Hop

The "Killa City" moniker is getting really old . . . If only because it's being employed to either sell (dying) newspapers or launch rap careers. Nevertheless . . .

A recent Youtube retrospective featuring a bunch of local hip-hop acts was incredibly entertaining.

The clip was skillfully produced by local video director, editor, producer Chris Williamson and seems to be the calling card of local promoters . . . Also, I liked that the these groups seemed to have a little bit of a rougher edge than the hipster rap that normally adorns this blog . . . To wit, thankfully Nadia Pflaum might be a little uncomfortable shilling her "social justice" rap at these shows . . . Which is a good thing.
