KANSAS CITY'S MAYOR HAS NO FRIENDS!!! NO "PUSH BACK" CAMPAIGN DURING THE FUNKY RECALL!!!

Now that the signatures are turned in I thought I would share an important facet of the Recall Funkhouser campaign that nobody noticed . . . Especially since The Star was scooped (mostly by me) on every angle of this story or any decent analysis because they stupidly fired DeAnn Smith.

To wit . . .

THE MOST TELLING PART OF THIS WHOLE RECALL PROCESS IS THAT THERE WAS NO GROUP WILLING TO STAND UP AND PUSH BACK AGAINST RECALL SIGNATURE GATHERING ON BEHALF OF MAYOR FUNKY!!!

Local media would have loved to get two sides of the story and Conservative radio talkers (from JoCo) were the only people out there talking down the effort . . . Note: Hostile Internet commenters can't really do anything significant in the real world so their contribution (as always) does not count.

Still . . . Conservatives turned out in force to support tea-bagging and hatred focused on the new Black President but not one leader or group in Kansas City stood against this effort in a serious way. Once again Funkhouser and his advisers prove to be politically tone deaf, ignored the Recall and seemed to want to fight this thing out in court rather than interact with the residents in Kansas City who have grown disgusted with the antics of the Co-Mayors.

MARK FUNKHOUSER HAS STUBBORNLY FAILED TO UNDERSTAND THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GOVERN KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI THOUGH TALK RADIO APPEARANCES, TOUGH TV QUOTES OR PRESS RELEASES!!!

TKC proved once and for all that when Mayor Funky and his Co-Mayor wife are questioned directly on the street level they run, hide, panic and can't come up with any answers beyond childish insults and curses.

There is a direct comparison of community support and a ballot initiative and it only further embarrasses Mayor Funky. Let's remember that recently Ward Connerly and The (deceptively named) Missouri Civil Rights Initiative attempted to gather signatures for a petition in the African-American community based on not-so-clever labeling and misleading rhetoric which didn't mention that they simply wanted to outlaw of any sort of Affirmative-Action. Well, in Kansas City the negative response to the misleading signature gathering was swift and overwhelming . . . African-American leaders quickly organized and informed their community and constituents about the real nature of the petition and the effort never got off the ground.

So, this recall drama merely points out that there is little to no community support for Mark Funkhouser. Even worse, a lot of people are saying that Funky's campaign coffers are empty so he doesn't even have the cash to go out there and pay people to support him. Jeff Roe is a local, Republican, political mastermind but I'm absolutely sure that he didn't achieve that position by working for free.

I'm actually hoping that some misguided folks will see this post, organize and maybe NOW support the Mayor during his recall drama . . . That will not only prove how influential this blog is but also will fail to realize that time has already run out for Funkhouser, his wife and their last remaining supporters and we're all simply waiting for the signatures to be certified.

The fact remains, when the time came for the community to stand up for Funkhouser -- There was NOBODY willing to organize, meet and defend Kansas City's Mayor against a small, grassroots group that garnered thousands upon thousands of signatures.

So we wait. While anybody wanting to stand up for the incompetent and lame duck Mayor will now be forced to run the guy (and his wife) for re-election. Good luck with that!!!

  1. Just get it done and move on. We have stuff to fix in this shithole of a city.

  2. Again, it's one thing to sign a petition outside the Brookside Price Chopper; it's another thing to turn off "Judge Judy" or "American Idol" and get off your ass to vote.

Don't count your signatures before they are hatched.

I'm skeptical, but I agree with a previous poster. This shithole of a city is just a former shadow of itself. Time to put all this nonsense behind us and get busy.

  3. I don't think the liberal loser media would have reported any opposition. That's where you're wrong Tony.

  5. anonymous 09:17:00, every time a story was done on the recall each of the majors, the star and KCPT asked the mayor for his comment, they were looking for a fight, no one from the mayors support system was willing to stand up, even the squirter disapeared.

    Big dumb empty shoes.

  12. Funk doesn't have any money, unless he refinances his home for a 15th time. That makes for a small campaign.

  13. Tony wonders why no conservative defended the funk. This is because the Funk is a Liberal. why would any Conservative support the funk?

  14. A friend of mine told me that during a prayer of thanks at the Celebration At The Station Sunday night, Mayor Funkhouser's name was mentioned and the crowed booed.

  15. The only guys I know like Funk are the guys that listen to conservative radio shows. Thankfully, those dumb shits live in Belton and Blue Springs.

  16. It was smart of Funkee to say nothing. Putting up a fight would only have pissed people off and actually ensured the success of the recall committee. The best thing for him to do was to lay low and let the recall effort succeed or fail on its own.
I know tons of people who didn't sign the petition for of the vindictive Funkhouser.
Come August, those of us who dislike Funkee will far outnumber the few morons who still support him.
