The latest shin-dig by the Kansas City Bloggers was sponsored by sweet ticket deal from The Wizards. Obviously, the outing seems like a great time with a nice people - The only problem, there were fewer than 10 of them according to an account of the event. Now, that's great and maybe the Wizards will win in the long-run via great word of mouth by "influential" bloggers . . . But I'm pretty sure there are a great many other folks out there who can round up 10 people for a discount and probably don't even need the help of fancy, "social-networking" technology in much the same way local drinking events (even for charity) aren't as groundbreaking at folks trumpeting the "power of the Internets" would like to think . . . Or, maybe soccer just isn't that much of a draw.
Blame soccer or social networking . . . But maybe both have been too widely hyped in defining "the future" of Kansas City.

maybe it should have been in spanish so the mezikins could understand.
ReplyDeleteThey had to pay for tickets so it wasn't exactly sponsored, anyone can get a group discount and the post only described a group of friends who just happened to meet through blogging. no big whoop.
ReplyDeleteBoring sport and boring people away from the protection of their PC. There's your answer TKC.
ReplyDeleteI like the people who went and if I hadn't had to work I would have joined them.
ReplyDeleteThe only sponsorship was that the Wizards gave them a group discount. People still had to buy their own tickets.
