When I was a kid, I always found it embarrassing that the Chiefs were the last team in the NFL to have male cheerleaders . . . Similarly . . .
Kansas City Confidential has only been publishing for a couple of days but I think it's obvious that Hearne's crowd of readers from his years of writing at The Star have YET to follow him to the Internets. For the sake of every blogger, I honestly hope that changes.
In Latino culture, merchants making the first and last sale of the day tend to offer a bargain; so in order to get the ball rolling on Hearne's blog I left the first comment for the site's biggest name. Here's what I wrote:
"Hey Hearne, I like the blog. I'm linking."
Overall I think this is the 4th comment for all of the writers Hearne has assembled, with one comment coming from contributor Greg Hall - whoever that is . . .
There is a school of thought that says the comments are the lifeblood of blogs. Personally, I don't care what you d-bags think or type because with the sole exception of Donna and 2 other people - Who are the bright spots in all of Kansas City blog comments . . . Most of the reader reaction is either just plain wrong, petty or kinda racist. There are a lot of local blogs that get great comments, Gone Mild has some serious discussions when he provokes his readers to write missives that look like they took as much effort as blogging and I notice that local lady bloggers like Frighteningly Uncommon Sense or Moxie Mama have a built in (genetic?) tendency to spark chat sessions.
So, I'm hoping my tiny contribution will help Hearne and get off to a good start when it comes to reader participation. I might also suggest that attending blogger meetups with a rotating crew of 2 dozen white people is a great way to garner comments from "friends" . . . The only downside to that is that I think you have to make out with some guy named Chimpotle or try not to scream "Ward Sucks!!!" at The D-Rules - Which is something I could never do . . . Still, all good things, even blogging, require sacrifice.
I offer even more suggestions and help for Hearne because the Kansas City blogosphere is all about community and inclusiveness NOT petty jealousy and cliques disguised a niches, right?
So, while you've had ample opportunity to read Hearne's blog . . . Don't be shy, drop him a line.
Saying you have to make out with me implies that you don't want to make out with me.
ReplyDeleteI like how you re-quoted your comment here on your blog so that we don't actually have to go to his blog to read it.

ReplyDeleteYeah I'm smart enough to get the low dig at your own readers, Tony. And you reap what you sow. Intelligent posts/blogs (sometimes you have one) receive comments in kind. Lately, I've been bored, or else feel a little dirty, after reading your blog (and nothing to do with the hot chicks).
No longer a 'must have' snack on my daily blog list, "One Trick Tony" is growing weary. It was a good run while it lasted, sir. And PLENTY of your blog postings, Tony, are WRONG, PETTY AND QUITE RACIST.
wah.
ReplyDeleteHere's why Tony wins. You took 150 words to tell him that you hate him and don't want to read him anymore.
ReplyDeleteBut I say that having a popular blog in KC gets you nothing.
Tony is a great example of that.
Greg Hall had one of the best, funniest Web sites in town until he shut it down a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteMuch more clever and professional than yours, d-bag.
Never heard of it? What was the name?
ReplyDeleteIf it was so great? Why isn't it still around?
Heya Tony, I don't do the lemming thing for anybody so don't take it personal if I don't follow all your instructions.
ReplyDeleteThat said, in the name of the local "blogger community", I'll give Hearne a shot.
Oh and making out with Chimpotle is optional at gatherings, you just do NOT want to know the other choices (eww).
Tony - thanks for the link. One of my Lenten resolutions is to comment more on other people's blogs . . .
ReplyDeleteI've been to several of the blogger meet-ups, and Chimpo has never even offered to make out with me, much less forced himself on me. And I'm always the best looking guy there.
