This is, like, so orwellian and New World Order stuff, brah.
ReplyDeleteGet a new joke, PR stooge at 6:01.
ReplyDeletehey cathy jolly why are all these locations south of the river?northland people don't run red lights?
ReplyDeleteIs it Orwellian? The real question is about law and the citizen responsibility to obey it.
ReplyDeleteOr is there a Constitutional right to break the law and see if you can avoid being caught and paying the penalty passed by elected government.
Catch me if ya can but lets make it a 'fair' contest. Next thing ya know deer will petition the government to ban firearms during hunting because they're an unfair advantage for the humans.
Is the government breaking the law by pretending camera tickets are about safety when they are really just another unfair and sloppily administered tax? The tickets (and warrants after failure to pay?) are issued to the car's owner regardless of who was driving.
ReplyDeletei've said this before, that if people would have quit stretching the yellow light into the red, this wouldn't be happening. over the past several years, you could observe the trend growing and growing to the point where people don't even care anymore if the light has already changed to red. i'm for these cameras, big brother be damned.
ReplyDeletegot news for you folks who blatantly run red lights: if the yellow light has come on and i can stop, i do. my brake lights are red lights you will NOT run past.
If they want to make some big bucks, install one at Cleaver & Main. They'll catch about 6 on every cycle.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh the money I made to put you shits under surveillance spends soo good! I love my mansion in Valentine!
ReplyDeleteRed light running is a white collar crime. The red light runners still seem to think it's acceptable. It's not. Red light runners kill and injure people, cause vehicle damage and our insurance rates to rise and more. All because they want to save a few seconds in their boring self-centered lives.
ReplyDeleteWhat 5:38 and 9:52 said.
ReplyDeleteSpot on.
The people who go to court over these tickets are the ones who can least afford to pay. Check out Ed Martin's story about his experience in the STL city court. He was pulled out of line and offered a dismissal on his ticket just because he was recognized as an attorney. Camera ticket systems are a scam and have been run out of other cities across the nation. Obviously, American Traffic Solutions and the people in our city hall think that they can get away with it here. Maybe they can.
ReplyDeleteA "white collar crime"? I don't think so, but if true, cameras aren't the answer because "white collar" "red light runners" and others who are just the innocent car owners will grumble (or not) and simply send in a check. Some of my clients happily send me a ticket and a check every 6 months or so and continue to speed regularly knowing that they can usually avoid a conviction. Wealthy people are less likely to be deterred by a small fine.
These camera tickets will cause no points to be assessed to anyone's driver's record nor will there be any other consequences aside from a measly $113.50 payable to the city. Red light cameras aren't about safety, they're about the money. KC, you've been scammed.
Can those cameras see me Porky Piggin'?
ReplyDeleteI say lets make using a phone while driving illegal. That alone would make driving safer in this city.
