TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! RECALL TALK FROM KANSAS CITY'S GREAT WHITE NORTH!!!

Here's what I've heard from a couple of people now and it makes sense to me.

THERE IS A SMALL EFFORT THAT'S GAINING STEAM NORTH OF THE RIVER TO RECALL MAYOR FUNKY!!!

Now this makes perfect sense to me because the strategy is sound. I don't claim to know the details of the City Charter on this subject but folks have told me that if a recall takes place after a certain date the Mayor Pro Tem will just take over for the remainder of the term. That would put Northland Council Member Bill Skaggs in charge. Obviously, support for Skaggs in the Northland is strong while Mayor Funky's reputation even in that part of town is a joke.

Personally, I don't have a problem with Skaggs for Mayor until the next election.

Now, this isn't the only recall effort I've heard about but it's the most interesting because it comes from Mayor Funky's last stronghold of support. Debates over airport police and the budget crisis have caused even more folks from the Northland to question Mayor Funky's judgement. Also, The Northland is always complaining that they are neglected and residents in that part of town rarely see their Mayor or his barefoot wife . . . Other criticisms I've heard were the Mayor's lack of support for Minute lady Frances Semler and just a general disgust regarding the guy's overall record.

A lot of folks forget that the Northland's support of Mayor Funky was more of a reaction to Alvin Brooks and their perception that he would punish their community in much the same way that former Mayor Cleaver allegedly regarded that part of town as nothing more than a place to put Kansas City's trash.

Now that people North of the River in KC Proper have expressed interest in a recall, there is not one part of Kansas City that Mayor Funky can claim overwhelming support.
