Okay, the only thing interesting about those "Call for Action" reports is when the subject of the investigation goes apeshit.
Tonight, local newsie Jenn Strathman comes up with a goldmine of coverage!!!
The details of some alleged furniture scam aren't important . . . But the guy's reaction is priceless.
NBC Action News captures a guy on tape yelling, his voice is cracking, he sounds like he's crying and he's waving a shovel in the air. He repeatedly yells at Strathman to "GET IN THE F*CKING CAR!!!" and even opens the door for her in a very pissed off and threatening manner.
When Strathman is understandably hesitant and obviously doesn't want to get a shovel in the back of the head . . . THE DUDE SCOOPS UP SOME SNOW AND THROWS IT ON HER!!!
I'm guessing that just for a second Strathman reconsidered her career choice and wondered if being a model or an actress would have been a better alternative.
And here's a brief lesson for Kansas City scammers in training . . . Had this guy just went back in his house or said "no comment" it would have been nothing more than the regular run-of-the-mill coverage, if he would have cooperated with the crew, calmly explained his side of the story (even if it was a lie) they might have even killed the piece . . . (Seriously, the more someone gives the media the less there is to report) . . .
BUT TONIGHT THIS DUMBASS IS THE MOST INTERESTING THING ON THE LOCAL TV IN WHAT WOULD OTHERWISE BE A SLOW NEWS DAY!!!
Click on the "raw video" link in the story to watch the exchange . . . It's pretty great and Strathman's cackling at the dude to "STOP HITTING OUR CAR!!!" seems wonderfully unscripted.
There's no doubt this is scintillating coverage of Kansas City Area stupidity so close to X-mas. Nice!!!

ReplyDeleteFirst, the "CALL FOR ACTION" franchise made famous in THIS market by Stan Cramer at KCTV is mostly a scam to lead viewers to the impression that TV stations are looking out for the viewers. It's all over the country and has been for two decades.
Fact is, the VAST MAJORITY of phoned in 'Call for Action' franchise complaints nationwide, are about car dealers, not small time furniture stores or rip off roofers. But those never hit the air because CAR DEALERS are big advertisers! Those complains are always handed "OFF AIR". The Call For Action reporter just doesn't put those on teevee, because the TV station's SALES DEPARTMENT would have a FIT!
Call for Action cameras mostly try to bushwack small people who have no power. or Government... they dont advertise on TV either!
Guys like this one, crazy enough to come outside and pick a fight... so that the TV station can turn ITSELF into the story. Oh poor us... this crazy guy came out all pissed off because we tried to bushwack him with our cameras rolling.
They don't go out and talk to a judge or a lawyer who might say, "well it's not TV stations that are supposed to bring justice for people...that's why we have a COURT SYSTEM".
TV stations know that if they play Judge JUDY on the 10pm news, and dispense with fair trial practices, they can pretty much do and say what they want. That's why TV, especially KCTV5 screw more people than they help! That LIVE, INVESTIGATIVE crap they do is one thing:
PREDATOR TELEVISION!
Fact is, TV would love you to think it's the MEDIA that brings justice...but it's not. The MEDIA ignores Constitutional protections this country was based on and has dismissed the idea of "innocent until proven guilty."
I remember someone who once said if 60 Minutes' Mike Wallace calls, go on immediate vacation! The story's already been decided in New York, and the only reason why they flew to town in CBS's Learjet is get some video to cover their conclusions against you on the program. If they piss you off on camera, fine...it just makes you look even more guilty to the viewers!
So don't WALK away from television investigations... RUN! Why? Because you don't get due process from TV. You don't get a lawyer to build a case in a fifteen second soundbite, and you have no control over what's presented.
Only the TV reporter does.
So stay away from them. They're only interested in their own ratings. They're not interested in justice at ALL!
Anybody who talks on TV foolishly thinks they will look good. The chances are fifty fifty, they'll make you look like an IDIOT because THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT!
And Entertainment is what TV news is really about.

ReplyDeleteRADIOMAN IS RIGHT!!! These loser drive way journalists are worse than the alleged crooks, Stan Cramer certainly is a bigger crook and LIAR than anyone he ever assaulted in their driveways. Wish the guy would have filled their car with snow, I'm sure that would have baffled her. FUCK CALL FOR ACTION
