KANSAS CITY PROP 8 PROTEST!!!
Today, Kansas City was part of a nationwide day of protest against the passage of Proposition 8 in California, an initiative that bans gay marriage.
A crowd of around 500 showed up at The J. C. Nichols Fountain to carry signs and listen to speakers in support of marriage rights for the LGBT community.
Kansas City Council Member Beth Gottstein spoke to the crowd.
She equated the legislation to homophobia and then noted that legal discrimination against the LGBT community was akin to racism, sexism and anti-Semitism.
Missouri State Senator Jolie Justus, an openly gay Kansas City politico, was greeted with a warm reception by the group seemingly huddled together against the cold.
Jolie opened her started her speech by shouting, "My name is Jolie Justus, I'm a Missouri State Senator and I'm a lesbian."
A spirited speech by Justus was met with raucous applause and approval by the crowd. Justus noted the national support for this day of protest and said how happy she was that so many people were in attendance at the event.
There were a great many Kansas City elected leaders in attendance as well.
Kansas City School Board Member Airick Leonard West was in the crowd listening to the speakers.
Justus noted that Jackson County Representative Scott Burnett and Missouri Representative Beth Low were also present.
I was pretty impressed that this Kansas Community could rally together so quickly.
It was clear that these were politically motivated people determined to make their voices heard and calling upon some of the most vocal supporters of their community.
Even better . . . Despite the setback to their cause and what they said was an urgent need to address their concerns, it was a fun and relatively friendly crowd.
Now back to regular TKC Coverage . . .
Because I'm a bastard I have to slap a huge NO HOMO!!! on this post . . . But I guess I admire the group's courage in the face of a great many people who can't stand them . . . They have it almost as rough as Mexicans . . . Luckily, they have legal recourse and a great many in the crowd obviously had some political pull (heh).
Anyhoo . . . This is the place where I usually put up a playlist but I don't really know what's appropriate here . . . So I think I'm just going to finish this week of posting with the 5 most ghey songs that I know . . .

I'm confused. This was a referendum that was voted in California. So why are they protesting here? And what a surprise to see Beth Gottstein there stumping for them. Is Beth a lesbo? What's really funny about the California vote - blacks voted 70% for the ban, yet they protest at white churches. White religious folks would not have had the majority in the ban without the blacks. I guess the gays don't want to upset another minority by picketing at their churches. How ridiculous!

Speaking of photos. Where are the photos of the co-mayors? As Orange Revolutionaries I am sure they must have attended and spoke to the assembled crowd. Is it just that they have reached such an advanced plane of consciousness that their images cannot be captured in mirrors or recording devices?
Or did they just not care because they were to focused on their own pathetic lives?

He may have a disloyal, cock sucking political adviser and a full of herself, twat tasting secretary but Mike Sanders would never been seen at a pro gay marriage event.
Sanders likes to get the redneck vote too much and he would take all kinds of grief in the poker rooms.
Besides that Jim Nutter would not allow Mike Sanders or Mark Funkhouser to go where they could get their pictures taken with a sign that advocates for "marriage" of two guys or two gals.
Sanders knows its one thing to show you can tolerate them but its quite another to be associated with their call for special rights any more that he can advocate for child molesters or the beastiality lobby.
Sanders and Funkhouser are hypocrites and the gay groups are just taken in by bullshit. But that is the way it goes.

I totally don't understand this protest. MO and KS both went close to 70/30 on same sex marriage and nobody in LA was protesting.
