Since there aren't any Kansas City columnists who have the guts to write it, I might as well:
IT'S OPEN SEASON ON HAPLESS, YOUNG WHITE WOMEN IN KANSAS CITY!!!
I see it all the time in this town, clueless young white broads giggling, drunk and acting as if they don't have a care in the world on an otherwise dangerous street. Sadly I might have even accompanied one of these groups at one time or another . . . So I'm not casting any kind of blame.
But, the fact of the matter is that so often young, mostly white suburbanites coming to Kansas City for a good time don't know the danger that lurks on local streets. For them, the murder rate is an abstraction and it's hard to shake off the invincibility that stable, generic suburban life instills in their privileged psyche.
Even worse, Kansas City hipsters who may live within City limits sometimes get caught up in politically correct group think that puts them in danger as well.
And of course, I'm not advising anyone to racially profile or to give in to any of the hatred that fills the Internet. But it's also important to face reality . . . Folks looking out for their safety should not be afraid to hurt someone's feelings. Live to apologize some other day . . . It's not a bad strategy.
Let's look at the facts:
The week before last there was some poor, unfortunate white broad shot in the stomach in the Crossroads outside of Madrigal Martini Bar. She is now facing huge medical bills that her friends are trying to help her with and she has endured several painful surgeries.
This weekend some white broad from Leawood was shot to death in a robbery (for gas money) after hanging out in Westport.
TKC IS TRYING TO INFORM CLUB HOPPING WHITE BROADS IN THEIR 20'S (MY FAVORITE PEOPLE) TO KEEP SAFE AND AVOID BEING THE NEXT VICTIM OF A LOCAL SHOOTING!!!
Crossroads, Westport and even the P&L District are more dangerous than anyone admits . . . For PR and Advertising purposes local media outlets don't like noting the very real danger in these places and the details of the circumstances surrounding crimes in these areas are always vague . . . MSM doesn't like showing their advertisers in a bad light. Unfortunately, that doesn't do the potential victims of crime much good. So, the white women that I love so much face a very real danger of participating in this town's night life without any information that will keep them safe.
Fortunately, it's not rocket science and even the most ditsy of white broads that I've dated could probably handle this info:
Of course, if I could keep all of the good looking Kansas City white women in their 20's safe in my basement with me . . . I would. Sadly, that's only a fantasy that I indulge after watching Entourage one too many times.
Therefore citizen media, rumors around this town and simple common sense are pretty much pleading:

Realize that Kansas City is dangerous . . . And like Caligula our Mayor is more concerned with his personal satisfaction than the safety of people in this City . . . So you're on your own and must realize that white, club hoppers are often regarded as targets for the disenfranchised in Kansas City at the outset of the most serious financial crisis this nation has faced in more than a generation.
TKC doesn't take any pleasure in noting these facts. Again, I just realize that the mainstream media and the Mayor tiptoe around information regarding crime trends or ignore it all together instead of accurately depicting the situation on Kansas City streets.

ReplyDeleteTony, I think this is, in a large part, the fault of the businessmen. We all know, or SHOULD KNOW, that crime was hidden as much as possible at the Plaza and many of the shopping centers, including Indian Springs and the one down by the Grandview Triangle.
ReplyDeleteIf business expects Kansas Citians to come to enjoy business, they'll install many, MANY more cameras in parking lots and malls, and hire more patrol. Including cameras that capture license plates in well lit exits.
And they'll be more honest about crime in their business areas.
I know its a bad problem. My mother, for example, would no longer go to the Plaza because she knew someone who got mugged there. It's sad how television which runs only crime and mayhem scares people from going out on the ONE hand... but on the other companies who own entertainment/shopping venues would rather cover up the problems than fix them.
Carry on, Tony. This is a good one, so long as we don't panic the population and pressure developers to assure safety. I expect people would be happy to play a fifty cent surcharge on drinks or food, or whatever to help pay for a MAJOR increase in security.
Jeeez, look what we're paying for security at AIRPORTS?
You forgot to add another safety tip: Call the police immediately if you see a black man who is not well-dressed.

ReplyDeleteAgain folks. Crime is common to all large cities and the night spots in those cities. Now that KC is growing up, crime will be going up. The key is not to walk around like a bumpkin. Act like you are in New York (or a hick version of it), watch your surroundings, don't walk alone and don't flash your cash or your a@@ (that tip is for you half-naked white skanks) and you should be okay.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a rental duplex in Midtown/Quality Hill area. I got a lot of young white women (like Tony likes) that would try to live there. They were from the suburbs and they all were raised to think that black and white people are all the same. They thought it was just "the media" who were making it sound dangerous to live in the heart of the city.
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say, most of them didn't stay too long. They retreated back to safety after "the media" paid them a visit. Sometimes it was a car break in or the more stubborn ones had to have a mugging or witness some other act of violence to understand.
I am black so I don't think I would be in too much trouble for trying to steer young white people away from my rental property. I experienced far less problems with black women living there. I think the local troule makers figured a black girl would fight back more aggressively.
Keep up the good work Tony. People need to know what is happening in our city and what can happen to their children is they send them there. I am 58 years old and I have taught my children all to watch out for "the media."
Guess we'll add them to the long list of victims at the hands of the black community.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know the victim, but a friend of mine and her were close and according to his accounts, she was a decent person, not a typical Westport "skank".
I would say that the only people that deserve to be shot to death in Westport are the thugs hanging around and I can also say that as a bartender in the area, I would not hesitate to gun down as many of those animals as necessary to get the point across that their behavior will not be tolerated.
If the black community wants a race war, then by all means, bring it on.
The true lesson that kids these days aged 16-30 need to learn is that blacks and whites are not equal. Black will rob and kill you. Whites will just rape you and give you herpes. Be careful.

That said, I tell my young-adult sons that they should avoid south-of-the-river establishments. White guys are not as vulnerable as young white women, but the advisory is the same.

And racial profiling doesn't work because while the police are busy checking out the 99 percent of blacks that are not causing trouble they miss the 1 percent who are. What we need are better patrols in all entertainment areas and profiling of suspicious behavior not skin color.

I've lived in the heart of Westport for a year (near the Westport Flea Market - makes the best hamburger I've ever had), and I've seen more suspicious lurking behavior in my parking lot alone than ever I saw in the tiny little town I moved here from last year. I moved here to be close to work, and I agree that the media does refrain from reporting much of the crime on ALL levels that occurs in the Westport/Plaza area (pick-pockets, muggings, hold-ups, etc.). For instance, the Game Stop on Westport Road was held up and robbed in the middle of the day on the Fourth of July this year -- where kids shop. This kind of thing happens WAY more than anyone non-native to KC knows in this general area; even if each individual crime is not reported to the general public, the fact that there are so many of them should be.

It's not hard to see if you're the paranoid inner-city kind as I have become in one short year (eyes-in-the-back-of-the-head-thousand-yard-stare stuff). I'm glad for that though; even after I move to the Northland when my lease is up next month (one more single white girl coming up), the heightened sense of caution that I developed while living in Westport for a year will help to keep me alive in the future, even up north.
I wish that poor young lady a few weeks ago had been more informed about where she really was.
