Ah, on this wonderfully cloudy morning . . . Intense panic over Islam reminds me of 2002 and the smooth sounds of Norah Jones . . . Awhile ago The Star ran a typically milquetoast article about Islam in KC and the Midwest . . . Well, one of those anti-Islam blogs recently got a hold of the article and asked some penetrating questions (ew) that are just a tad more embarrasing than a tantrum of a panicked child:
This begs the question, what aspects of Islam are Muslims in the United States faithful to - sharia, jihad? And speaking of Johnson County, the Islamic Center of Johnson County’s website states, “The Islamic Center of Johnson County, Inc., unequivocally affirms the Qur’an and the Sunnah as its eternal and ultimate constitution.” Where does that leave the United States Constitution since Johnson County, Kansas is part of the United States?Again, I thought this kind of rhetoric had gone out of style but, as always, I'm glad there are bloggers still scared of some other boogeymen besides Mexicans.
Tony - maybe you can actually answer the question rather than distorting it?
ReplyDeleteHere are some more penetrating questions for you...do you believe Americans should have two legal systems - one for non-Muslims and one for Muslims? That is what sharia law would do. Do you believe that men should be allowed to have up to four wives? Do you believe men should be allowed to marry girls as young as 1 year of age? Sharia law. Do you believe men should be legally permitted to beat their wives? Do you believe that rape victims should be punished for being raped? Do you believe choosing to leave Islam is a capital offense? Do you believe in jihad against the non-believers?
More importantly do you know anything about sharia law? Islam? Do you know who the Muslim Brotherhood is and what their stated objectives are in the United States?
Did you know that many of the posts at Creeping Sharia are written by Muslims? Are you going to accuse them of being afraid of themselves?
Quite a difference between being afraid and informed Tony.

The post that was linked was intolerant and unacceptable. It deserved to be ridiculed. Give Tony credit for making fun of all sides.
