Let's not forget that Mayor Funky and his wife tried to take credit for an imaginary drop in Kansas City crime!!!
Upon entering office one of the things that Mayor Funky did besides calling everyone who was even remotely connected with Mayor Kay "evil" . . . He blamed Mayor Kay for crime, promoted the much maligned "broken windows" theory to fight crime the doesn't work and cited a drop in crime as the first year of his tenure went forward.
A fact that's making the rounds in Kansas City media today:
KANSAS CITY'S 2007 CRIME STATS WERE FAKED!!!
KC police now report much higher crime tally for 2007
Remember now, that the Mayor is a big part of the Police Board and this big local lie represents just another aspect of the Mayor Funky's job that he has screwed up. Good luck to Mayor Funky and his people trying to cast blame on the KCPD for this screw up when, in fact, the Mayor and his people actively tried to benefit from these misleading stats.
It is hard to believe but evidently true. The KC police deptartment was reporting inaccurate statistics. How could this happen? Did the inaccurate stats cause the police to miss intervention opportunity? Have deaths resulted. I suppose the good news is that the Mayor is right on top of the volunteer ordinance.
ReplyDeleteThe real truth is also that much of the crime goes completely unreported! I can't tell you the number of times I've called 911, had the police come out to a scene and no reports were ever filed.
ReplyDeleteBreak-ins, vandalism, burglary goes largely unreported, because unless you demand a police report none will be filed!
Cowboy makes a great point. The KCPD often show up to crime scenes where no one is there and no report can be filed. There are shootings all over the city that don't get called in and break in that people don't even bother to report because it would take too much time.
ReplyDeleteIt's much worse than people think and it's not going to get better until we start being honest about the situation.
Looks like another vote for the police and they will keep us safe. Bullshit I'm voting NO
ReplyDeleteYou people really like to nitpick today.
ReplyDeleteanon @ 1:06 - "You people"???
ReplyDeleteGood old KCPD. Surprise surprise. I wonder how their DUI and traffic ticket statistics are these days...
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Funky and the Squid will try to find a way to put a positive spin on this. Something like "Come to Kansas City. Our police stats are fake, but our orgasms are real."
ReplyDeleteNow that is comedy.
ReplyDeletekcpd we need you to be honest above all.
ReplyDeleteKCPD is too worried about all their off duty gigs. They don't have time to do that annoying day to day crap.
ReplyDeleteHow come the Insight bulletin distributed by KC and the City Manager tells us that "public safety has been improved by building new police and fire stations?" How does that make us safter?
ReplyDeleteyou know.... they really be a FUGLY looking couple....they deserve each other.BUT NO CO-MAYOR OFFICE.
