Shangri-La for Kansas City area smokers

KC Beer Blog finds Smoker's paradise at The Clarette Club

  1. what a fucking elitist rant. the guy disses the place because it doesn't serve his style of beer, and then suggests it doesn't want do-gooders. if being a do-gooder means passing legislation that infringes on our rights and a business-owners right to decide for him or herself WHO they want to cater to, then i say "fuck you, the horse you rode in on, and don't let the door slam you on the way out."

and by the way, if this d-bag had done any research at all, he'd have known two things: Mission DID pass a smoking ordinance to go into effect on Oct. 1 providing they can iron out the "patio" issues, and two, the Clarette Club has been there for more than 20 years. A no smoking ban will not close that place down.

  3. This guy is such a douche.

Walking up to the bar and asking "what's on special?": Well, there aren't many ways for you to better advertise to the bartender that not only are you not a regular, but you are also cheap (probably a crappy tipper), and not a good drinker (willing to drink anything cheap).

$2.75 Boulevards is not a good special? What planet is he from? That's a great price. Boulevard beer typically retails at $3.50 to $4.50 a bottle.

Complaining about the fact that he had to ask for a glass and (heaven forbid!) pour his own? Listen, he already advertised to the bartender that he is a douche with the "drink special" inquiry. Asking for a glass when the beer is already served in a glass (bottle) shows he is also high-maintenance. Because of these facts, I would NEVER attempt to pour hs precious $2.75 Boulevard into that precious glass because I know there's no way that I'm qualified to do it correctly. He obviously know much much more about drinking than I do.

Let me tell you, if he came into my joint with exactly this same interaction, my next move would have been to snatch up his bottle, your glass, hand him his money back, and tell him to get the fuck out.

That guy should consider himself lucky to get served at all without someone kicking his ass. Perhaps he should just focus efforts on the Plaza, P&L District and Zona Rosa, where he came from and where he belongs.

  4. Damn. Somebody has a bartenders point of view around here.

And the strange this is that I don't disagree.
