Same old trend in South KC Crime

Bannister Mall is attracting crime . . . As always.
Growing weeds around Bannister Mall is upseting neighboring businesses. They say the blight is attracting crime.

Signs on the defunct mall warn people not to trespass and to beware of a dog. But it's clear security is barking in vain. Someone is breaking windows, littering outside, and prying open boarded-up doors. As for the grass, it is so tall, neighboring businesses are choking.
Kansas City Political Watchers Might want to remember that the Mayor's lawn mowing push isn't working in this instance and it has also taken away money from codes enforcement which isn't functioning at full capacity BECAUSE OF the Mayor's lawn mowing fuss. Think of it as twisted Karma for politicos.

However, there are two bright spots here:

  • Bannister Mall crime is being blamed on blight and not Black people this time around.

  • Once again Kansas City people are expecting Super-TIF to save the day.

Meanwhile, the mall is empty, dangerous and dilapidated . . . Which is the same condition of the mall in the late 80s . . . However, they did have an Orange Julius back then.

    1. Who the fuck keeps a dog at an abandoned shopping mall, though? Seriously, thugs aren't stupid enough to believe that shit.

    2. Perhaps Lane4 realestate, the developer of the property, should be made to upkeep the property until they can demolish it. After all, they are receiving almost 300 million in subsidies for their efforts to develop the property. By the way, Sal Alinsky recommended where ever possible, put a name with the problem. Lane4 is a corporation, but the top dog is Owen Buckly. Niel Patterson of Cerner is deeply involved too. Now, maybe the property will get attention...I suggest the mayor when he is not defending Gloria call Owen or Patterson and do a little arm-twisting.
