NYC Mayor Bloomberg quicker to act on Kansas City Crime than Mayor Funky!!!

As I noted previously, I'm just back from a mostly worthless press conference about guns in Kansas City that will most assuredly accomplish nothing.

Honestly, I thought it was something right out of Super Troopers.

However it did provide me with an opportunity to ask the Mayor a question face to face which a few of you reporter d-bags who read this blog think is a big deal . . . It's not really and it mostly just gives politicos a chance to mislead with propaganda.

Anyhoo . . . I asked the Mayor why it took 10 months to finally sign up for this program after he made promises to get involved on Oct. 2, 2007.

His answer:

"I had other things to do."

He then went on to say that it was actually NYC Mayor Bloomberg whom he met at an unrelated conference who encouraged him to take part . . . Despite the fact that members of his Administration were out in the community promising the Mayor's concern and attendance at the Mayor's Against Illegal Guns Conference earlier this year on April 14, 2008.

SO, THANK YOU MAYOR BLOOMBERG FOR THINKING OF KANSAS CITY CRIME BECAUSE IT'S A SUBJECT NOT OFTEN ADDRESSED BY MAYOR FUNKHOUSER!!!

Never mind that metro mayors have been participating in this program for more than a year, community members have been urging the Mayor to take more on an interest in Kansas City crime. It took a high powered, billionaire politico to convince Mayor Funky to take part. What was that again about "Regular folks?" Anyhoo, Mayor Funky's excuse on this one as that he didn't want to act "unilaterally" which is exactly what he did in his ongoing attempts to get rid of City Manager Wayne Cauthen.

COULD SOMEONE PLEASE TELL BLOOMBERG TO ADVISE THE MAYOR THAT FOOT MASSAGES AT WORK AREN'T APPROPRIATE?!?!?!

Reporters in the crowd noted that concern against crime wasn't exactly a priority when The Mayor failed to follow through on Kansas City's promise to put 20 more cops on the street this year. Mayor Funky went on to say that:

"ADDITIONAL OFFICERS WERE NOT CRITICAL . . ."

In terms of fighting crime in Kansas City.

The rest of the thing turned into a prayer vigil and even more speeches about community involvement made to press people and not members of the community.

Judge for yourself whether or not it all amounts to just another press conference to earn some coverage because of all the dead bodies turning up in this town.

I didn't bother staying until the end of it because I've heard it all before and every summer the murder rate in this town continues to rise.

  4. Tony you're taking this stuff way too seriously. We all know that this is just a publicity stunt. It's not exactly like you're doing serious journalism. I hope tonight the local news sill report that this effort is really just for publicity. And I can't imagine the Mayor really said that more police were not critical.

  8. Tony you're a bastad. I think your mere presence made a lot of people EVEN MORE cynical then they were in the first place and that's saying a lot. Good to see ya man.

  9. the murder rate going up is not the mayors fault. it's the fucking barbaric, uncivilized brown people who worry more about "respect" than getting an education or a proper fucking job. no wonder no one gives a shit when they kill each other.

  10. Not surprised. This degenerate guy is a pimple on Kansas City. He knows his days are limited. Just like the rest of his staff, he is just going through the motions until he is thrown out.
