Jolie Justus plans to kiss and tell and blog regarding goodies at the DNC

Via her blog, local politico/blogger Jolie Justus recently published a more personal take on her Democrat Convention experience that interests me far more than the same propaganda that big media is running.

Her description of Show-Me Stat Schwag is sweet:
When we arrived this afternoon we were greeted by the great volunteers and employees from the Missouri Democratic Party. We were immediately loaded down with two huge bags of schwag. Nothing says convention like a big bag of schwag and these bags did not disappoint . . .

The Missouri bag had a familiar smell. After dumping the contents on my bed I quickly id'd the smell as Gates BBQ sauce (compliments of Congressman Cleaver). The bottle had opened and spilled onto the t-shirt provided by the KC Royals. The bag was overflowing with goodies. Most of it your typical law firm coffee mugs, casino t-shirts, post-it notes, pens, etc. Notable however, were some Carmex from AG candidate Chris Koster and a pack of gum from Secretary of State Robin Carnahan. I shoved both in my pocket and headed out the door for the opening reception.
Just as the Olympics come to an end, I'm glad we have another state sponsored propaganda platform to (marginally) entertain us all.

  1. Justus is worthless. Looking out for her personal causes with no concern about those of the people she represents.

Just what we need, another snarky blog.

  2. You're worthless. Justus has done an excellent job and fought back against Republican strong arm tactics in the Senate.

  3. At least the city council is there to get their free stuff, too!

  4. Give us an example of what she has done. Prove your case. You sound like: "my mommies can kick your mommy's butt!"

  5. She was one of the few who stood up to Matt Blunt and didn't let him raid MOHELA without a fight.

  6. Justus stand up for lesbonians all over Missouri! I for one am thankful for single-issue politicians. Makes it so nobody has to think...

  7. Sad to say 5:20 has a point.

  8. Can anyone name one, just ONE bill that she sponsored that passed???

  9. startling how increasingly irrelevant this blog has become. I check back after a few months to find Tony merely cutting n pasting from a substantive blog to fill inches... and stealing content from one of the better liberal voices KC has going. What Tony, bignaturals.com eating up too much time these days?

  10. Address Confidentiality is just one that she passed. Of course, Robin Carnahan takes all the credit - but it's a bill to protect victims of domestic violence and stalking so they don't have to use their home address for official mail.

  11. This year she passed a gun control bill. Felons can't have guns.

But more to the point - how is freebies the equivelant of propaganda? I beleive the definition centers around communicating a message. You could interpret alot of messages from Gates, Carmex and Gum.

One could even interpret messages based on who their mommy is and why do they still live and blog from the basement.

  12. Don't blame Tony - he's showing us that our hometown Senator BLOGS and COMMUNICATES. Anyone ever get so much as a newsletter in a non-election year from Wheeler or Wiggins?

I don't have to agree with her on everything, but you have to respect someone that keeps an open mind and is willing to listen. She does that in spades.
