Early Morning Kansas City mist and anonny accusations about violent Dem meetings

It's really nice outside. There's a thin mist of rain coming, cooling things off and raising a fog over the city that looks a little spooky. The KC Live lights are bouncing off the clouds but I notice fewer people on the streets this evening.

Back in the political world I see that there's a bit more bickering or at least rumors of it . . . The following passage showed up in one of my comment threads and I didn't want to ignore it in case it turns out to be true . . . On the other hand, I don't know if there is any factual basis for this annony comment:
No one who was there Tuesday night will forget the sight and sounds of physical violence breaking out in the back of the meeting after the LeVotas lost an election by acclamation. First there was cursing and then there was an attack on an older man who I know as mild mannered.

Thankfully county sheriffs were there to subdue Steve LeVota when he attacked Marty Kerr, but will there be someone there next time? I am actually nervous about attending the next meeting.

Before the next County Committee meeting I hope we all will think about what needs to be done to keep us safe. I could hardly drive home safely after Tuesday night’s meeting after violence broke out. I never want to see something like that again and I am sure I am not alone-especially among those of us who are not "kids" anymore.
Anyone have any insight into this? Sounds out of control but if Democrat meetings where this exciting I would think that more people would attend.

As far as politicos punching each other . . . I can only hope it's true because it means they're paying attention. Still, TKC doesn't condone violence of any sort and I'm not sure how I feel about annony comments that may or may not have any basis in truth . . . I prefer e-mail tips that at least trust me to keep the info confidential as to the credibility of the source. Anything less is just more garbage on the Internets without the benefit of a bikini photo.

  1. Steve LeVota did act like an animal and his brothers (a state rep and a would-be judge) stood there and watched as he beat up on an old man.

Of course now there is a round of blaming the victim going on:

"Marty Kerr should never have put his head under Steve LeVota's arm pit!"

  2. The LeVotas have been attempting to wrestle control of Jackson County politics for about 5 years now. They get put in there place now and then but rise up again. If Tony ever starts to cover Jackson County Democratic Party politics, it will make Gloria look good by comparison. The Funk ran for the wrong office, he should have gone county.

  3. Why does a young guy like Phil LeVota need "BIG" brother to fight his battles for him against a senior citizen, sounds quite wimpy to me

  4. The LeVotas really know how to throw their weight around eastern jack politics

  5. Hold the next committee meeting at John Knox village where the LeVotas can feel safe

  6. Someone at the meeting told me the aggressor outweighed Mr. Kerr by at least 150 pounds

  7. Why do you think people hate politics and politicians?

  8. This situation sounds like Chicago in the 1930's; the thugs are in charge.

  9. If this is how Democrats act I may vote Republican for the first time in my life.
