THE TWILIGHT OF TKC: Not doing regular guest appearances on KMBZ anymore!!!

After more than a year of doing a weekly blogger guest appearance on KMBZ . . . The segment that features TKC talking about Kansas City blogs was put on hiatus i.e. canceled.

The reason they gave me was that they're shifting their coverage to more political news items . . . But I really have no idea.

What's important to me was that pressure from the other conservative station didn't really play a factor. During the whole Semler dust-up that Scumbag Chris Stigall made a concentrated effort to get TKC "dumped" by the show and even had a few of his fans call in at the station. Thankfully, KMBZ didn't back down to a few crazy d-bags taking orders from the radio and they kept me on for almost a year. After a couple of months the calls died down and just last month a couple of folks at the station noted that they no longer got any complaints about my weekly appearance. That actually disappointed me a bit.

Personally, I always felt like it was a bit of a watered down version of TKC given that I was always HORRIBLY FRIGHTENED of an FCC fine or something like that. Also, I'm a creature of the written word and live radio just wasn't my bag.

Still, I think it's important to acknowledge the discourse that's going on in the blogopshere in other forms of media . . . It only raises the level of debate and proves that people are interested in participating in a discussion about any given topic. If KMBZ ever goes back to talking blogs related to local issues, I really think they should give these folks a try:

THINGS I'VE LEARNED:

Not every Conservative Talk Radio person is some angry, obsessed, mean spirited person with a vendetta against brown people . . . That's just Stigall. In fact, at KMBZ I noticed that people were exceedingly cordial and nice to me. I met a lot of really nice folks. They really are great people and the five minutes I got to see them every Friday and then on Wednesday was a welcomed peek into the corporate media world.

Nevertheless, I did notice a disconcerting lack of diversity at the entire Entercom office. On most days I was literally the only minority going into that place during the morning.

Anyhoo, here's what readers might want to know about this blog going into the future.

I have alternating plans regarding either turning this dump into a local social networking site (of sorts) or doing a lot more video. I lean toward the video angle because I truly believe that's the future of this whole Internet thing. NOTE: There will be a lot less link aggregation in the future as I've learned that focusing on what interests me always results in more passionate content . . . However, that still includes a lot of local blogs because I'm always wondering what people in Kansas City are discussing.

Although outside d-bag will have their misinformed opinions, I think this was an amicable parting of ways and there might be the option of coming back or making not so regular appearances whenever something big comes up on this blog. In any event, I feel like I got a lot out of the experience.

I think this frees up TKC to get a tad more "loose" at least on Wednesdays. As I mentioned previously, I always felt like I was holding back and I know that just isn't entertaining and not the style I take with this blog at all.

Oh, and there was always some rumor that I was getting paid. Not true. I was simply a guest and I was very surprised to learn that conservative talk radio treats their guests rather nicely. Unfortunately, I'm always groggy in the morning and I never even took advantage of the free water bottles that they hand out. Damn.

Anyhoo . . . Sorry for going on so long . . . Just wanted to keep the d-bags who read this blog in the know. Natch.

Now here's the part where a few miserable d-bags jump to conclusions despite the fact that, as far as the unreliable web stats that I check are concerned, traffic is way up on this blog.
