"This wonderfully cultured midwestern metropolis no longer has a classical music critic at its newspaper of record"

Affluent white people and the folks who write for them are still lamenting the decline of the daily paper all over the nation. A blog from The Orange County Register is the latest to cry crocodile tears because of Paul Horsley's departure from The Star . . . Even better, they suggest that the guy should get a blog (which isn't that bad of an idea).

  1. And Hoopz is still employed and writing about where she got drunk last weekend. What a travesty.

  2. "Affluent white people"? Last time I checked, the median household income of our newspaper's readership was lower than our county's average. When I go to the symphony (I get the cheap seats, because I make journo's wages), I see lots of folks who look like me -- not that old, not that rich. And guess what, Tony? There are even people of color in the audience. Gasp! We all seem to be united in our love for that paragon of upper-crust Caucasian culture -- classical music. By taking cheap, uninformed shots at arts audiences, you inadvertently reveal your own ignorance. A suggestion: rise above 99% of the blogosphere -- do some homework before spouting off.
