Sean Tevis might be the only Politico in Kansas who understands the Internetz

Sean Tevis is running for Kansas State Representative in District 15 (Downtown Olathe) . . . I'm pretty sure it's the same Sean Tevis who has a pretty decent local blog and I do remember that the guy had a link to TKC that has now been removed so obviously he not only knows the Net but also knows a lot about politics.

Anyhoo . . . What I like about his site is that it's the first web page from a politico that doesn't read like it's written by a PR flack. The language of the web is colloquial and casual and from this guy's Internet presence (always the worst way to judge a person) he seems like a descent human being and not a cardboard cutout running for office.

Even better, a pitch about donating to his cause via paypal was pretty effective because it used a comic strip format.

It's not all flowers and Sunshine though . . . His stance on immigration is vague and already in flux. It's very hard for politicians in the Midwest, even Democrats, to just come out and say that they don't hate Latinos and that most anti-immigrant rhetoric is spouted by racists who can't stand more brown people in this country. But I digress.

This trendy campaign website was made to appeal to the trendy, liberal and hip people in Olathe . . . All three of them. And among folks in Kansas who would know that Xkcd references are just a geeky way to note that somebody is using stick figures . . . This could be the most persuasive online promotional tool EVAR!!!

Note: AKCB noticed this Kansas Politico a few hours before TKC and provides a quick review.

  1. His goal was 3000 donors and he met the goal in 37 hours. He's now up to 4100+ and growing. Wild!
