This afternoon, last year's hysteria over a very tragic case of MWWS came to an end:
Edwin Hall, 27, of Olathe, pleaded guilty to capital murder, aggravated kidnapping, rape and aggravated sodomy in the June 2007 death of 18-year-old Kelsey Smith, who was taken from a Target store parking lot. The Overland Park teenager's body was found four days later in a Missouri park.So I don't know how much political mileage Phill Kline can get out of this one considering there was a lot of alleged blunders on his part. But the important thing here is that a year long interest in the tragic murder of a single white woman has eclipsed most talk of Kansas City murders yet again. And I still think he looks like Elijah Wood.
Update: The Kansas Citian sees it as a Kline victory. He also posts an even weirder Edwin Hall photo.
Young, white, pretty....lives in Johnson County....no wonder it stayed in the news.
ReplyDeleteTrue enough.
ReplyDeleteI don't see it as a victory for anybody. A young woman's life was lost and that's something that nobody, not even Phill Kline should try to benefit from.
ReplyDeleteA damn shame about the news tonight. 10 minutes dedicated to this story that doesn't affect anyone's life but the family and the murderer. That's not news, it's gossip.
ReplyDeleteThere was a 50-60 year old woman disappeared in Independence. It made news for some time. An innocent black or hispanic girl in the burbs would have made the same news. Its just that sadly this kind of thing is not news in the inner city. Its all too normal.
ReplyDeleteSo we like beautiful white women.
ReplyDeleteWe get it already.
They are a valuable diminishing resource to be protected and cherished at all times.
Fat and ugly we've got plenty of.
I guess that little black girl that was decapitated in the ghetto, did not get enough air time.
ReplyDeleteQuit drinking the kool aid and wake up.
We failed Edwin Hall.
ReplyDeleteHe was so emo, and we missed the signs.
He hurts too much, feels too deeply.
What could we as a community have done to reach out to this young man?
I'll bet there are some guys waiting "to reach out to this young man" at the next stop. In his case he will rue the day he asked for life in Prison as a better deal than death.
ReplyDeletethat day will be one long nightmare where he will find out what it is like to be used and discarded like a piece of meat, day after day week after week and finally year after year.
Been watching a lot of OZ have you? Prison rape is much rarer than Hollywood would have you believe, not that this d-bag doesn't deserve it.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I agree with both 5:54 AND 7:41
ReplyDeleteHey Edwin, while you are in the middle of a round robbin of getting your shit packed and face fucked in prison, know were thinking about you kiddo! Who's the bitch now??
