Summer started yesterday . . . The smoking ban starts today.
I don't know if beginning this glorious season with the illusion of safety and less revenue for restaurant owners is the right way to go but it certainly is a distinctive strategy.
TKC Note: Throughout the smoking debate I'm always disappointed that folks rarely mention servers who don't have much of a choice when it comes to breathing in that fumes of their patrons and finding another job in order to avoid cancer is kind of a hassle as well . . . Just a thought from folks who can rant all day about personal liberty but never stop to consider po'folk.
There is always a choice, this is America after all not Mexico.
ReplyDeleteYou knew it when you accepted the job! What about coal miners? What about police officers? What about firemen? What about soldiers? There are always going to be jobs that come with more risk than others. When does removing freedoms stop? There's always going to be people who think their opinion should be the rule of the day.
ReplyDeleteactually, I do my best to think about servers, especially the young hot ones.. :)
ReplyDeleteThe untold fact about servers in bars is that most drink recreationally often, like as in after every shift. Of those that do drink, most smoke as well.
Also, if you ask servers, they will tell you smokers typically tip better.
