KKKansas City Continues a Legacy of Hate!!!

Recent FBI stats regarding hate crimes were reported in the local media . . . However, an embarrasing statistic was glossed over and not given the consideration that it deserved:

KANSAS CITY HAS SEEN AN INCREASE OF 142% IN HATE CRIMES!!!

The stat follows a nationwide trend of increased hate crimes but unfortunately this is one of the few areas where Kansas City is leading the nation. I tend to think of this stat as a reflection of a lack of leadership . . . Kansas City's first couple wants permission to use racial slurs in the Mayor's office and the mainstream media in this town doesn't like talking about issues related to race. Meanwhile big media offers so much biased reporting when it comes to people of color and almost no coverage when it comes to the local LGBT community - Obviously, it's hard for Kansas City to care about communities that are so often portrayed as "the enemy" or just simply ignored.

  1. Way to mix numbers from two different reports compiled on different criteria. One verifiable. One not. One about general hate crimes provided by the FBI. One focused on hate crimes committed against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender peoples provided by a group focused on an LGBT agenda. Very little about race can be gleaned from the article to which you have linked. But you knew that. Didn't you?

  2. Nope. Same report, same bigotry. You might need a bit of reading comprehension lessons instead of the accusations you throw against Tony.

  3. I don't think that KKK is too fond of homosexuals either. Even if they all are just secretly overcompensating anyway. The second poster may be wrong but it's clear that all bigotry is related and people who hate those based on their skin color most likely hate those based on sexual preference as well.

  4. The Pitch already reported this weeks ago.

    I read Ink.

  7. Read the article. The numbers mentioned are clearly provided by to different reports using different criteria although Tony makes no effort to mention this fact but the link he provides does. The article clearly states why the NCAVP has drastically higher numbers than the FBI report. Nothing wrong with my reading comprehension.

  8. One hate crime is one too many.

  9. BTW, a huge jump in the number is Black on WHITE hate crime. They've finally BEGUN to start tracking black on white crime.

  10. Since the reports being cited consist of data prior to Funkhouser's administration it is hard to justify blaming him for the change. The difference in numbers can also be explained by changes in priorities and a proliferation of new hate crime laws. But hey, if you like Tony's shallow and self-serving analysis, be my guest.

  11. Not sure where you got your numbers, but Kansas City had 4 Bias Crimes in 2007 and 5 in 2006. The result is a 20% decrease.

  15. Please read this link Capt. Rich Lockhart:

    The Kansas City Anti-Violence Project:

    http://www.kcavp.org/

"Regions reporting increased numbers of victims in 2007 over 2006 include San Francisco (+24, 7%), Pennsylvania (+10, 28%),
    Minnesota (+85, 135%), Michigan (+201, 207%),Kansas City (+17,
    142%), and Los Angeles (+243, 100%).

In 2007, the Kansas City Anti-Violence Project (KCAVP) documented 47 incidents of bias-motivated violence, an increase over the 27 incidents in 2006. In 2007, there were no major elections in Missouri or Kansas. Elections tend to cause spikes in reports of violence because campaign messages often include anti-LGBT sentiments. Thus, the increase for 2007 thwarts that pattern and may relate to the updated intake form that NCAVP began using at the beginning of 2007. We are hopeful the increase does not signal a new trend of increasing violence against LGBT people in Missouri. We also noted that there was a decrease in HIV-related and anti-transgender bias documented from 2006 to 2007.

KCAVP continues to educate the LGBT community as well as the community at large. In 2007, KCAVP succeeded in the goal of beginning work with law enforcement and the judicial system to treat LGBT bias crime victims sensitively and with respect."

One person who left a comment was right, a hate crime is a hate crime and it doesn't matter it is against a black person or a member of the LGBT, it is wrong no matter what and against the law. I hope the KCPD will start recognizing crimes against our community count too.

  16. Most crimes are committed by minorities against other minorities... or minorities robbing, stealing from, or victimizing white people. Why would you twist an increase in hate crimes as white on black. Oh, that's right. YOU HATE WHITES. You dumb fuck worthless grease-ball.

  17. The Pitch reported on hate crimes? You mean the same paper that used it's reader base to spread out Neo Nazi anti-mexican flyers around Kansas City?

  18. Ink has actual stories?

    Now THAT'S news.

  19. Stop the hate Kansas City.

  22. Tony as long as you make fun of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered people, you are preaching hate yourself. Take the spelling of "Ghey" and the term "No Homo." Oh Wow really funny, like the Nazis. What if published an Internet journal that talked about Wet Backs, and Greasers and Beaners and the like and called it a "joke blog." Fight your own demons Tony before you cast the first stone. You are a Hate Monger.

  23. You forgot to add: No homo.

  24. Stop the hate, but remember...no snitching.
