TKC Exclusive!!! Mayor Funky's concern was fake!!! Failure to protect and clean up Kansas City Neighborhoods continues!!!

During the election Mayor Funkhouser promoted something called "the Broken Windows theory," a concept which contends that fixing small cosmetic problems within a community is an important step in improving the overall esteem for a neighborhood and subsequently encourages home owners to help improve their streets and conditions overall. Never mind that there are some serious problems with that theory pointed out by smarter people who didn't get their doctorate from a City College . . . The point is, it was a nice notion that was well received by a great many Kansas City voters who wanted a Mayor who cared about "regular folks" and the problems in their community rather than high rolling developers and expensive vanity projects.

One year later, the very same problems that Mayor Funkhouser promised to address are lingering in continually neglected Kansas City Neighborhoods.

Thanks to the work of A TIRELESS COMMUNITY ACTIVIST TKC IS PROUD TO PRESENT A SPECIFIC EXAMPLE OF THE ONGOING NEGLECT OF KANSAS CITY'S NEIGHBORHOODS AND SCHOOLS THAT CONTINUES DURING THE ADMINISTRATION OF MAYOR FUNKHOUSER!!!

A shameful example of Mayor Funky's broken promises is the situation that exists near Graceland Elementary School near 71 Highway.

Right across the street from the school an abandoned house with trash strewn across its front yard has been in a state of disrepair for the more than a year. This isn't just some random house, this house next to the elementary school was an issue during the Mayoral campaign and more than a couple of candidates spoke about the sad situation and used it as an example of the incompetence of former Mayor Kay Barnes and her utter lack of concern for neighborhood problems.

Mayor Kay knew about this defacto trash dump across from an elementary school but did nothing. It was this kind of situation, which is repeated all across Kansas City, which helped Mayor Funky win the election when he constantly referred to infrastructure and neighborhoods.

Even worse, there's no denying that this problem was brought to the attention of City Hall's highest office. Mayor Funkhouser was confronted with this problem within the first few months of his inauguration. The Mayor's daughter (Tara the Tart), whom he sent to community meetings, promised a concerned community group that she would work to resolve the issue. Months later another young representative from the Mayor's office promised the same group that he would try to get something done about the abandoned, dangerous and unsightly mess across from the Kansas City School. At first the neophyte political worker argued that "there just wasn't enough money" to clean up the mess and then later, when pressed, said that Mayor Funkhouser was working on sending the issue to another City department in order to get it resolved.

One year later . . . Nothing has been accomplished.

Remember (I can't stress this enough), this kind of neglect to the issues concerning "regular folks" was exactly the kind of thing that Mayor Funky promised he would address during his tenure. It's worth noting that on the same day these photos were taken, Mayor Funky was at a press conference to address the problems of the Kansas City School District . . . I guess he was discussing problems that didn't have anything to do with a dangerous trash dump next to one of those very same public schools. Or maybe the good professor was trying to teach Kansas City another lesson . . . Children, our word for today is: Hypocrite, for double bonus points try using the phrase "politician" in a sentence. For instance: When it comes to highfalutin talk of infrastructure and outdated civic theories Mayor Funkhouser turned out to be just another lying politician full of empty promises.

The evidence is clear, Mayor Funky was presented with a simple problem more than a year ago which he had TWO SEPARATE OPPORTUNITIES TO REMEDY and still nothing has been accomplished. One of the many mistakes that Mayor Funky has made was to think that people wouldn't hold him accountable to his word and would settle for pandering statements about "principles" or other kinds of tough talk at press conferences. Nevertheless . . .

THIS IS JUST ONE INSTANCE OF MAYOR FUNKY'S FAILURE, THIS IS JUST ONE OF MANY PROBLEMS CONCERNING NEIGHBORHOODS AND "REGULAR FOLKS" THAT MAYOR FUNKY HAS STUBBORNLY IGNORED!!!

The list continues to mount, meanwhile Kansas City's Mayor has seemingly forgot the basic tenants of his campaign and now is touting light rail, wasting more time on the unsolvable dilemma of the Kansas City School District and has inexplicably endorsed the same kind of doomed economic subsidies which he once criticized.

Just like so many other politicians in Kansas City, Mayor Funkhouser has forgotten Kansas City Neighborhoods. A look at the photos in this blog post or Mayor Funky's record over the last year unequivocally proves that the Mayor's concern was nothing but a lie from the mouth of an overly ambitious politician.
