Out of touch: The Star refers to a "violent spring" and then writes about tornadoes

Once again the weather proves to be the top priority for a local media outlet while last week hosted more than a half dozen Kansas City homicides and innocent people are being taken out because of violence on the Eastside. Also, every now and then I'm tempted to believe that the mainstream media isn't as bad as I think . . . And then the obvious bias and willful ignorance of The Star is published in an editorial or opinion column and I'm reminded that TKC exists to expose, reflect and openly mock the kind of reporting offered by Kansas City's paper of record that really doesn't care when people of color die.

Gangbangers killing each other holds a lot less importance to law abiding citizens than spring thunderstorms.
No mayor will stop that kind of behavior, as it occurs in every major city. That ain't racist, that's just being an observer of "urban" culture.

Hmmm... half a dozen people dead from living the gangsta lifetyle or 20+ innocent people dead due to a freakishly bad storm. Which sells more, which sells more...?
