The Blue Blog takes apart the big man and offers a couple of insights that may have been glanced over in other media coverage:
1. FUNKHOUSER IS USING HIS CITY HALL PHONE NUMBER AS A CONTACT NUMBER FOR HIS CAMPAIGN!!! There are A LOT OF PEOPLE ALL OVER THE LOCAL INTERNETS who see this as a clear ethics violation - Even worse, his campaign is in bad financial shape and that basically means that every lawyer in Kansas City is getting calls from The Mayor's office encouraging them to cut a check.
2. Funkhouser took money from The Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. Not even a month ago Kansas City's Mayor wrote to them to express his outrage at their alleged bias. I guess "principles" are a lot easier to bend when in need of quick cash.
Mayor Funkhouser's financial mismanagement is a serious issue . . . The fact that he's begging for money all over town, and from all of Kay's old friends, puts the perception out there that this town's top office is for sale . . . So much for Funkhouser's reputation for being fiscally responsible.

ReplyDeleteHe wouldn't even be in office if it weren't for the 10 other people running which he can expect again. Everyone knows that. You can count on him struggling to build his war chest and can expect a number of early announcements for Mayor this time around which will take a very heavy chunk out of the already damaged finances and neither his record or reputation will keep him afloat.
You can take that to the bank.
They're already gearing up to challenge Funkhouser. The candidates will be floating rumors starting next year.
