Prime Buzz reports that the state committee of the Missouri Democratic Party picked its final two superdelegates today, and those slots went to four-term Attorney General and likely gubernatorial nominee Jay Nixon and state auditor Susan Montee.
Put simply, Mayor Funkhouser was left out in the cold in his bid to become a superdelegate and it's clear he has no friends in the Democrat party.
Not only is this embarrassing, it's important.
Unless Hillary and Obama argue themselves right out of the White House . . . The Dems look to be holding more power in the coming years after a Republican War has plunged the world into recession.
Kansas City has always been a Democrat stronghold . . . With a weak Mayor who has few friends among Dem decision makers . . . This town stands to gain little if/when Dems soon to start holding even more purse strings.
That means requests for Water Infrastructure, transportation and just general consideration for Kansas City might go on the back burner because KC's Mayor can't create a consensus or form any meaningful political alliances.
This is just one more drawback to Mayor Funky's reign and another reason to question his leadership or lack thereof.
he should just resign, sad, sad. not a good mayor

ReplyDeleteGood riddance
ReplyDeleteThe Dem Party just picked its super delegates today at their caucus in St Louis. The supers were Jay Nixon and Susan Montee. Other local politicos were picked for delegate slots like Sen Jolie Justus and Mike Sanders. No Funk. No surprise.
ReplyDeleteThe real surprise is that they picked Mike Sanders because that guy is not a Democrat. His personal assistant for dirty tricks (Calvin Williford) paid for an attack mailer to target a former Chairman of the Democrat Central Committee who is running for judge in Lee's Summit.
ReplyDeleteWilliford hired Jeff Roe's firm, Axiom Strategies, to run a negative campaign against Phil Lavota. In addition, Williford is acting like an old time thug by intimidating county employees to electioneer against Lavota.
How in the Hell can Williford call himself a Democrat when he hires Jeff Roe?
Sanders should resign his seat at the convention and fire Williford.
I always thought Sanders reminded me of Blunt. They are both cocky little shrimps who try to talk to fast. Now it is clear what the connection is: Jeff Roe.
ReplyDeleteRoe is stinky. Honestly, have you ever been next to the guy. Almost as bad as I imagine Tony.
ReplyDeleteMike needs to resign as a delegate unless Calvin admits he acted on his own and resigns.
ReplyDeleteOnce again The Star and the Pitch have missed the story.
Williford should go to jail. He is a crook who is known for dirty campaigns. He is a drunk and a drug addictl He worked for Reagan.
ReplyDeleteMost resently, he was behind the attack on Scott Burnett in the Summer of 06. Which he found a Gay lover to cover for.
He is also broke and is open to bribes.
Sanders should drop him like a bad habit. Sanders' mother-in-law is telling people the same thing.
The Funk is being punished for having the nerve to tell the truth time after time after time. Too bad it doesn't fit the Dem's agenda.
ReplyDeleteFunk and Sanders both belong to Nutter.
ReplyDeleteGet real anon 9:50. I've attended every Democratic event for the last 25 years. Funkhouser hasn't attended one until he began his bid for delegate. He is no Democrat and neither are any of his college republican staffers.
ReplyDeleteYa right. Mike Sanders is not a Democrat. sure. I see that the same person has discovered that they can post 5 or 6 times in a row on the same topic and they think we are too stupid to realize it was them.
