TKC posted the info first, and then local white people jumped on board the Airick Leonard West Bandwagon. While I don't like group-think, I admire the sentiment and excitement for change and I'm hoping that local net folks might take a moment to learn a bit about a less celebrated, but far more experienced candidate also seeking change on the School Board.
Dolores Arzola is running as a write-in candidate in the first subdistrict. She has worked with the School District but now seeks a position on the School Board in order to help increase her role as an advocate for children. La Fonda El Taquito is hosting a fundraiser for Dolores Arzola this Wednesday, March 26th from 5-7 p.m.
It's also an opportunity to get to know Ms. Arzola and her ideas for change in the KCMO School District . . . Even more importantly, she's not exactly running unopposed even though nobody has officially filed for the spot. Infamous deseg lawyer Arthur Benson is also rounding up his big money buddies to push the guy for the same spot.
While West's candidacy has inspired many and was even mentioned in The New York Times, Arzola is simply a grass roots volunteer working for the interests of students against one of the people directly responsible for carrying out insurmountable damage against Kansas City Schools.
Ms. Arzola deserves a lot of support, the alternatives are either complete disinterest or the same recipe for failure which has landed Kansas City Schools in their current state of disaster.
I googled Arzola and the first two things to pop up were articles featuring your Mom. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteYou are free to endorse who you want, but the bias is clear.
I'll be voting for Benson, so I guess I'm cancelling your vote anyway... if you actually vote.
To 9:23am:
ReplyDeleteMaybe you are using a different Google? Guess, your bias hindered you from looking at the other twelve articles, which detail her recent campaign and her volunteer work with the KCMO district.
I googled her, too and found that the first two dealt with her campaign. Yeah, there were two that concerned her efforts with COHO's education committee, but did you even read them?
It's voters like you (9:23am), who got us where we are today, and I am not sure if that is a good thing.
She's a great lady. Those of you who don't know her should try and learn more.
ReplyDeleteSo what if Ms. Arzola works with Tony's Mom. If you look at Ms. Valenciano's resume you'll see that she has worked in Kansas City's Latino Community for decades. I've had the pleasure of meeting her and she is not only professional but she cares about all people in Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteI met her back when she was volunteering for a police organization.
Anonymous comments against either Ms. Arzola or Rita don't have much merit in my book because they spread false information and don't tell the whole story.
I'd be happy to write in Ms. Arzola and I credit anybody willing to volunteer their time rather than just insult people on the Internet like Tony.
you're a dick and i wouldn't vote for anyone you or your dumbass mom supported, just on principle. Arthur Benson's a dick, too.
ReplyDeleteWell said Steve, I like you.
ReplyDeleteMs. Arzola has my vote. I hope she has the strength to keep on the side of good.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to vote for her too Tony. I bet this one of the few posts where most people who know anything about the folks invoved in what you write agree.
ReplyDeleteI will be sure to write in Dolores.
write in tony or his fat-ass mom...except i don't think they know how to do anything but bitch...
ReplyDeletePeachy you're a real class act.
ReplyDeleteBut could you take your discussion back the thead about Alfredo Parra since he appears to be your homosexual lover. This topic is dedicated to a worthy canidate for school board.
Benson is going to derail any progress they might make so it doesn't really matter. The whole thing needs to be trashed.
ReplyDeleteIf Arzola is such a great candidate why didnt she just file in the first place? No one in the People's Republic of Westport even bothered to file for the office. If they had they would have had it uncontested. Pitiful.
ReplyDeleteDolores is a great person and has worked to make sure that the parents of the school district have a voice. I have been involved in several meetings with board members and school district administration where she has called them out.
ReplyDeletePlus, she is anti-Marilyn Simmons and I love that. Finally, someone who has the balls to take her on and call her out for what she really is. I urge anyone who lives in the first district to write-in Dolores Arzola
