Kansas City's smoking ban takes effect today . . . Or, today marks the first time in this town when a waitress will have to decide between her lungs or a decent tip from nicotine addicts.
In all of this I'm just surprised that Casino floors make people immune to second hand smoke and lung cancer . . . That's just another reason to give away more money along with people who don't know a thing about probability or statistics.
Even better, the ban on the ballot April 8th will actually make smoking easier at the local stadiums.
And all of this would be a great reason to lose faith in Democracy if not for the fact that so few people show up to vote on any of these concerns.
Hooray for the continued pussification of the US based on junk science!!
ReplyDeleteSmoking makes you feel like a real man? You've seen too many Marlboro ads.
ReplyDelete... and oh yeah, the Marlboro man died of lung cancer.
ReplyDeleteJust do it already. Let the bars know where they stand and give Cordish downtown one more advantage.
ReplyDeleteAlready told my usual lunch server that I'll miss her, but that I'll think about her as I eat my PB&J every day in my car.
ReplyDeleteShe said she'll miss me - and the tips.

Maybe now I can go back to my favorite bar. Since I don't waste my money on cigs I'll be able to tip my server well.
ReplyDeleteWhy not eat cardboard. Because of your smoking habit that is most likely what your PB&J tastes like.
ReplyDeleteVote for a ban that means something. Vote Yes for the tougher ban on April 8th. What kind of ban lets smoking continue even in restaurants at certain hours?! A smoking ban in name only. Let's pass something that actually takes the toxins and carcingens totally out of the air!
ReplyDeleteA ban that means something?! Vote NO April 8th. Question 3 actually re-allows smoking in the stadiums! As of today it's been banned by the city.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 3 favors the sports complex and the casinos. Where do you think more kids go? The stadiums or bars after 9PM? And the hundreds of casino patrons and employees don't deserve "clean air?!" C'mon. You're picking on local establishments while letting the big fish go. It's not fair.
Question 3 is a sham. Vote No.
3's a SHAM!
ReplyDeleteVote NO
ONE MORE WEEK BEFORE THE LOCAL BARS WILL BE CLOSING THEIR DOORS FOR GOOD.
ReplyDeleteREMEMBER VOTE YES ON QUESTION 3 AND QUESTION 1 AND 2
