The fact that the most widely discussed item in the current budget crunch is the proposed funding cut at the Kansas City Zoo shows what a cruel bunch of uncaring d-bags reside in this cowtown.
Personally, I couldn't care less about the animals at the Zoo and my solution to the cash needed for the place has always been a bottle of BBQ sauce and a cookout that charges admission.
But the contempt that people in this town display for their follow humans by stressing over the sprawled and boring Zoo is yet another clear indication that bourgeois middle-class values will ultimately result in the demise of the human race.
Very few folks are as concerned with the fate of hundreds of City Hall workers or prison rehabilitation programs helping to make the streets just a little safer which are also on Mayor Funky's hit list.
It gets worse, earlier this week a loyal reader informed me that Union Station is doing an exhibit to bring attention to the cause of euthanized dogs and cats by displaying interlocking dog collars to memorialize the strays who were put down last year. Remember this is the same place that's never seen any kind of reliable proof when it comes to THE DISPLAY OF WHAT COULD BE EXECUTED CHINESE PRISONERS PARADED OUT IN PUBLIC WITHOUT CONSENT!!!
Still, I don't let the phony concern get me down because I know it's all lip service, very much like strippers pretending to go to college. Very few people are taking in stray pets, that's why they're always pushing them on TV. The support for the Zoo is equally unimpressive:
Of the more than 16,000 households that are dues-paying members of the Friends of the Zoo, 73 percent are outside Kansas City and 33 percent are in Kansas. Those memberships are expected to bring in about $1.1 million this year, or 9 percent of the zoo’s budget.When it comes to taking care of the check, the contribution of suburbanites is a mere pittance. They want the cost passed on to Kansas City taxpayers as their money is used mostly to pay for and endless stream of cocktail parties and feel good events.
In the end it all comes down to priorities and Kansas City has demonstrated time and time again that people (especially minorities) don't merit as much attention as the idolization bestowed on lowly beasts.
What are you serious with this one. Those animals work ten times harder than those city workers. Who care about a group of people who sit around in their office pushing porn and devising ways to funnel money to their cronies.

City Hall has way too many employees. This city gets NO BENEFIT what so ever from those lazy jackasses at city hall and especially the porn pushers in the City Manager's Office.
