Just about one year ago this week TKC accurately pointed out that Mayor Funkhouser was weak on crime. He was a candidate with no discernible community involvement, he currently ranks fighting crime in the bottom half of his priorities and his tenure has undoubtedly seen increasing violence and bloodshed in Kansas City. Without question:
MAYOR FUNKHOUSER HAS DONE NOTHING TO ADDRESS KANSAS CITY CRIME AFTER NEARLY A YEAR IN OFFICE!!!
Sadly, this fact isn't important to the media when crime only infests the Eastside otherwise referred to by the Funkhouser clan as "the Black part of town" but now more and more middle-class white communities are being caught in the crossfire of Kansas City's violent streets and it's making news.
The Mayor rarely mentions violence in Kansas City, in fact this year he has regrettably spent his precious time attempting to fire Kansas City's first African-American City Manager or pushing an ill-conceived regional light rail plan to benefit the surrounding suburbs. It's clear that he regards crime as an "urban" problem in districts that didn't vote for him anyway . . . However, that's not the case.
Time and time again it needs to be demonstrated to Kansas City's naive and predominately white middle-class that it's a round world. Whether we're talking about terrorism, crime, AIDS or Mariah Carey's music - THERE IS NO SUFFERING, INJUSTICE OR DISASTER IN THIS WORLD THAT DOESN'T HOLD SOME KIND OF CONSEQUENCE FOR ALL OF HUMANITY!!! In much the same way that most dudes in committed relationships must regrettably listen to women bitch and moan about their meaningless and inconsequential jobs.
Mayor Funky's learning curve when it comes to dealing with Kansas City crime is woefully inadequate. As long as Kansas City's leadership ignores the violence in this city's poorer neighborhoods it will continue to run unabated and has already begun to spread to this town's most affluent districts.

If KC wasn't so broke they could devise a few more city programs, hire a few more politicians girlfriends to run them, and I bet the crime would cease. Let all those poor misunderstood black men out of prison. People will flock from the suburbs to live in a wonderful city like that.
ReplyDeleteIf Mayor Funkhouser was never born, I bet blacks would still be shooting each other in KC. Isn't it the poe-lice's job to fight crime. What do you want Funkhouser to do about it? If he got "tuff" on crime, Tony would bitch that he was profiling or picking on the po black people or illegal mexicans. I know... Maybe Funkhouser should round up a bunch of white guys and throw them in jail and see if that brings down crime in KC. That's why liberalism is a mental disorder. You do not want to hold those accountable who are doing the crime. Here's a thought... Quite blaming Funkhouser for crime and start blaming the frickin criminals.... and who might they be... in KC it's the blacks. Who did you see sitting in the police car last night on the news? Another loser low life young black punk. He is to blame for his actions not Funkhouser. I hope he rots in jail. We will all be safer.
ReplyDeleteCertainly the shooting is not the fault of the Funk. It's just that we always expect our Mayors to be tough on crime and to make an impact or at least try to make an impact. The saddest thing here is that the impact that the Funk has made is that of a turd being dropped on the street by a dog. He has been nowhere on crime... I suppose he is busy cleaning up other problems that he or the Squid created. And he likes traveling... to Johnson County to play with his light rail friends and overseas so he can really be out of the loop. I wonder if he really goes to Asia (China) on the taxpayers nickle if he will leave the Squid here (she doesn't take to well to air travel) and what debacle will befall us all if and when that happens.
