The Kansas City Shuffle

At it's heart "The Kansas City Shuffle" can simply be defined as a ploy involving misdirection.

Or, according to a recent movie, it's when Bruce Willis snaps your neck.

Even worse, the Kansas City Shuffle is EXEMPLIFIED BY MAYOR FUNKY'S BROKEN PROMISES REGARDING FIXING THIS TOWN'S STREETS. TURNS OUT HIS PANICKY BUDGET CUTS LEAVE LITTLE CASH TO BACK UP ALL OF THE BIG TALK!!!

Less than a year after his election, one of Mayor Funky's biggest promises goes out the window:
Mayor Mark Funkhouser had campaigned on spending more money on street repaving and had hoped to bump the number to $35 million.

Funkhouser said he was disappointed that more isn’t available now, but he hoped it would become available later. He said he didn’t know whether residents, who routinely cite streets as their top concern, would feel shortchanged.
Thing is, promises about this town's streets were THE ONLY reason so many people I know voted for him and supplied his razor thin margin of victory.

Sadly, his misdirection tactic worked and now the only part of his campaign platform that's being carried out is his bad style, pedantic manner and affinity for the Northland.

On the bright side, this Mayor is every bit as horrible, misleading and useless as I had imagined . . . Sometimes it feels good to be right. It's a nice way to start the day.

Funny that a guy that ran a campaign based on fiscal responsibility can’t dig KCMO out of the poor house. All the while he pays some staff excessive amounts of money and collects his own extravagant paycheck...

Has this mayor done a god damn thing? How about he sets a standard by cutting his own pay in half?

Either he fixes the streets and keeps his promises or he doesn't any kind of excuse isn't going to cut it.
