He lost his job, must register as a sex offender and may have to move because his house is near a school . . . BUT HE WON'T SPEND ANY TIME IN JAIL because: "putting a former police officer such as Burgess in prison is dangerous. "It would be like a death sentence," his lawyer claimed while noting the defendant’s military service, previously unblemished record as a law enforcement officer, marriage with three children and good psychological assessment. Long story short: Suspending a 14 year sentence PROVES that the law doesn't apply to law enforcement in Jackson County as NOBODY else would be granted that kind of leniency. Just another happy thought to consider when turning in property taxes.

I remember when rape occured, nobody on the Examiner's message boards had much to say about it. Without knowing the race of the victim, it was impossible to know whether to shout outrage or cry race-baiting.
