Surprisingly, not everybody agrees with TKC. In fact, there are often compliants regarding my coverage.
Below is a recent response attacking my credibility (heh) that I think deserves to be featured . . . Also, here's a link to Playboy's Erica Campbell in a bikini - You decide which is more important:
Tony,Whew . . . There, I hope we all feel better and hopefully when I actually have time to read the news rather than just copying and pasting, I'm sure I'll be better informed. Until then, I'll probably just keep looking for photos of big booty white women in popular men's magazines and maintaining the illusion that I care about community current affairs. It's a good racket and might even be just as important as ignoring the current budget crisis, dreaming up pie-in-the-sky unworkable plans and defending the honor of suburban, white columnists from big media outlets. Your mileage may vary.
First of all, I want to thank you for writing positive and beautiful things about the West Side from time to time. I appreciate your help with volunteers concerning the Westside Beautification Committee. By the way, I'll be asking you to post once again the first or second week of April, when we'll be doing spring planting of cannas and other flowers. We just received a small donation from the Economic Development Corporation for the purchase of spring flowers. I'll keep you posted. We also have a very good chance of Summit Street being selected by the Cancer Society for its official planting of thousands of daffodils, which is the Society's symbol. They choose different locations annually for this cancer awareness project.
Regarding your posting today, I want to clarify that Mike Hendricks did not approach me concerning the West Junior High building article that appeared in this morning's paper. I approached him and other reporters from the Kansas City Star as well as Joe Arce of the KC Hispanic News. The Hispanic News ran an in-depth, front-page article that came out this past Thursday.
I sincerely feel that Hendricks nailed the issue of horribly blighted schools on the West Side as well as surplus schools all over the city. In today's posting you mentioned that he only knew one dude from the West Side: me. I don't know what's up with you and Mike Hendricks, and I really don't care, but when it comes to misconstruing the issue of Westside development and preservation of the old West Junior and Switzer buildings, I care a great deal.
The main idea that I wanted to get across to Hendricks, and which I did, was that the School Board has been a very bad neighbor for decades. My main concern is that the School Board either use the buildings and make them beautiful again, or sell them to a developer that will be a visionary and open to community input.
The idea of a botanical garden was never at the top of my list. At the top of my list for that location is affordable senior housing. Here are just a few more ideas that I'm very interested in as well: grocery store, banks and other amenities associated with senior housing, indoor city market (mercado), coffeehouse, restaurant, condominiums, other retail space. The garden idea is just one of many.
I'm talking to Tony Salazar, of McCormack Baron Salazar, who is interested in developing this property and who I understand talked to Westside Housing about partnering with them for the development of senior housing at this location as well.
What would you like to see done with that location, Tony? I would really like to hear some feedback.
I've taken the time to write you all of this because I feel that you misconstrued and misrepresented my ideas for that development. My number one focus is to save those buildings, and my number one preference is to see senior housing at that location.
If you would only have taken the time to e-mail me or return my phone call, this misunderstanding could have been avoided. I sincerely hope that you accept this letter offered in the spirit of improving communication. I know that your blog is a joke blog, with lots of satire. But when it comes to your stating that the author of the article misrepresented the truth when it was actually you who did so by declining to inform yourself, then I think it stops being satire and becomes misinformation. And misinformation is worse than no information.
I'm not being petty but only desire to communicate the truth about this very important piece of real estate in the middle of the West Side that has become more and more blighted over the course of three decades. PLEASE POST THIS ON YOUR BLOG.
Sincerely,
Alfredo Parra
Alfredo Parra is such a loser! That guy is a real pain in the butt.
ReplyDeleteAlfredo really needs to get over himself and do something more productive with his free time rather than bothering people like Tony Salazar who get paid big bucks for doing real jobs.
Don't know why you wasted space on your blog to capitulate to this guy, Tony. Although, it was probably a good move, he makes his own case for craziness better than you ever could!
Fraido and Hendricks - my vote for KC's next power couple!!!
too bad tony and anon don't have better things to do with their time than judge someone whose done a great job for the community...at least fredo is out there...last time i looked, tony hadn't come out for his yearly look to see if it was going to be another six weeks til spring...and anon, i just know you got an ass as fat as your mouth...yours, peachy
ReplyDeleteHey everybody it's Lynda taking a break from her latest love affair with illegals. Did you get the e-mail Tony? It's funny.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Fruitcake Fraido is out there, really out there and bothering everyone all the time with his own earthshaking priorities!!! What a loser, he needs to get back in his closet and stay there or stick to signage and daffodils, he is good at decorating.
ReplyDeleteOld f*gs don't die, they just get involved in useless activities and drive everyone around them nuts!
Gay power!!!
PS: Nice write up, Tony.
His letter was far too nice.
ReplyDeletei smell insecure macho xenophobic reactionaries hanging around tony's den...suck it up boys, it's not all about you...
ReplyDeleteWho cares?
ReplyDeleteTony, the merry band of homophobes commenting in this space have the wit of Neanderthals; they aren't fit to kiss Alfredo's faggot ass. Maybe if you took a creative writing course or in some way put effort into your writing instead of just cranking out the cheapness that you do, you could stimulate responses from your readership that were less tiresome. I remember the piece you wrote when your dad had a sudden health emergency. That moved me. You can write, man. Just stop being lazy.
ReplyDeleteAlfredo is a great guy and has worked hard for his community most of his life. If you don't agree with him Tony just get you ass out of your house and come to a Westside Community Meeting and tell him so. I go to those meeting and I've never seen you there ever. He has the balls to stand up to you when you misrepsent the truth about him and others. I don't think Tony has the Huevos to talk to Alfredo man to man even on the phone. As for the first comment from anonymous and the ant-gay commets you people are't good enough to kiss Alfredo's feet. He has been openly gay in Kansas City most of his life and if you guys have any problems wth that go fuck yourselfs He has more Huevos then all of you Tony included and if you don't give a shit about your Commuinty Tony which you live in your more fucked up than I ever could imagine.

Please call me to talk for just a few minutes. I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.
Fraido,
ReplyDeleteENOUGH, what a long ass letter! It is time you move on. Plant your damn daffodils, get your signage up, keep promoting yourself in whatever it is you do that doesn't help anybody but you and your overblown ego!!!
Hendricks was the one who didn't print your DAMN idea - Tony just pointed it out and even mentioned a part of it, dumbass!!! Jeez, Fraido, you need a reading comprehension class or something!
BTW, do you ever do anything that isn't totally done to promote yourself??? Regardless, you are still a queer, old, poor, has-been, who never was!
Tony writes a blog, maybe you need a blog of your own to keep you busy and help you promote yourself to your little heart's content.
STOP BOTHERING PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is for Anon, the last dumbass who posted. Alfredo was misconstrued and misrepresented. Can't you read? Also how in the hell did Tony come up with the notion that Alfredo was wanting a botanical garden at the old West Junior school. It was not from Alfredo because I asked him. He told me that he never talked to Tony at all becaue tony would not return his calls or his e-mail. Alfredo has been consistent with his idea of wanting affordable senior housing at that location. A conservatory for plants would be great but that was not his main point to Hendricks or to Tony for that matter. It's Tony that made that assumption. If you, Anon, the last commenter before this one, have a hard-on for Tony that's great. Just stop fucking with Alfredo. Your suggestion that Afredo should start his own blog is a great idea. I'll share that with him next time I see him. As for you, dumbass, after you kiss Alfredo's Queer Ass you can kiss my Queer Ass next. I'm sure if Alfredo wants to start up his own blog, it will be the best Latino blog in the Midwest, not all this hate talk. Not all this homophobic, misogynistic, sexist, looksist crap that Tony puts out.
ReplyDeleteAnon, I'm sure you and Tony will make the next prominent political power couple for our great city of fountains
Alfredo Parra is a good guy just trying to improve things, and we all know that a lot of things need to be improved around the city. I think the low attacks on his sexuality are a good indicator of the type of people speaking out against him.
ReplyDeleteyeah Alfredo is a cool guy, and does more productive things with his time, then I'm sure most of you people do.
ReplyDeleteDIDN'T YOUR PARENTS TEACH YOU IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY...SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!
w/ kansas city love,
the princess
Alfredo is a wonderful man, he has helped me and my family in many ways. I agree with him, the building should be saved. There are alot of memories there for all of us who lived on the Westside. This building is very historical and means alot to the Westside community. I went to school there and I think this building should be put to good use for the community. Alfredo has alot of great ideas, he has done alot for the Westside community. It would be nice if he actually has some input in naming the project. Well it sucks greatly that there is so much hate out in the world, every blog I read has hate in it. I bet you silly asses would'nt say it to his face. When it comes down to it, you all are just a bunch of HATERS.
ReplyDeleteMUCH LUV TO ALFREDO.
