Questions about the Funkhouser Campaign Ethics Investigation on Valentine's Day: Does Gloria Squitiro control the gifts?

It's Valentine's Day and I've been thinking that the best gift the local media has given to the Funkhouser Administration is their continued lack of reporting on THE CURRENT INVESTIGATION OF KANSAS CITY'S MAYOR BY THE MISSOURI ETHICS COMMISSION!!!

Luckily, the people of Kansas City aren't so devoted to the cause of the Mayor appointed by The Kansas City Star.

In fact, the e-mails coming my way are very concerned about one particular aspect of the Funkhouser Administration's conduct that is especially relevant on this Valentine's Day: The gifts that come into the Mayor's office.

It seems that the Honda Hybrid sweetheart deal the Mayor ultimately rejected after public outcry was just one of many gifts coming his way.

The Mayor's office is often inundated with gifts and those gifts must be accounted for and reported to the State of Missouri Ethics Commission.

There is rumor around City Hall that the many gifts that come into the Mayor's office are distributed to Gloria Squitiro's "favorites" on staff. TKC is simply asking a question about how the gifts are distributed, if this is an aspect of the Ethics investigation that has went unreported by local media and if they can hook me up with some Big 12 tickets? Sadly, so many in the local media don't seem to care about the issue at all even if the public never accepted The Star's proclamation that all was settled with the MISSING 80k which, hilariously, preceded news of the Ethics Investigation.

Reportedly, Burnetta Burtin - who was rudely referred to by Co-Mayor Squitiro as "Bernie Mac" on several occasions, had the job of of keeping the ethics record but TKC has heard GOSSIP that the task was taken from her by Co-Mayor Squitiro after the "Mammy" compliant by another Black female in the Mayor's office. Apparently, there was a perception that The Funky Bunch couldn't trust any Black person which could explain other allegations of rude, harassing and intimidating tactics used by Squitiro against the Black females in her office and subsequently supported by The Mayor: "Gloria speaks for me" was constant refrain of the Mayor which was confirmed by an appearance on a television talk show just a few weeks ago. It's worth noting that since the EEOC compliant was filed, several City Hall watchers have noted that the Mayor and his wife have become increasingly insular . . . Even in circumstances relating to longtime friends.

I guess the main point on this Valentine's Day is that the reign of the Funkhouser Administration has played out like a tumultuous love affair. There has been a number of broken promises, one fight after the next and now disturbing allegations from former fans about old gifts.

The days of public adoration and whimsical plans for the future are long gone and the reality is that the relationship is now filled with racial slurs, contentious talk, questionable decisions and hurt feelings.

Thankfully, despite the fact that the Co-Mayors act as if they're King and Queen, voting for the Mayor never met "till death do us part" and the next election cycle is closer than anyone thinks for this politician who already seems like a lame duck and has broken the hearts of so many former supporters.
