By far, the race for Jackson County Sheriff seems to be the most entertaining for Kansas City voters.
Already there has been some pretty funny online discussions of nearly everyone involved in the race and now they've taken their battle to the street (sorta).
There was recently a bit of controversy over the process to get on the ballot. All of the candidates wanted to be the first name listed so they basically staged a live re-enactment of "Around the world in 80 Days" at the Courthouse.
TKC wishes all of the candidates good luck and I'm excited that they're keeping everyone entertained . . . Also, it's a tad disappointing that everyone competing in the great race yesterday seems to have more faith in convenience and lazy, uninformed voters than the merits of their own candidacy.

Tony, you need to change this because Bullard was not at the front of the line Tuesday morning. Mahoney's reporting has suffered since he shaved his facial hair. Let's be fair.
ReplyDeleteFair?
ReplyDeleteBe Fair with regard to John "Cheater" Bullard?
Cheater Bullard was not first in line because building security had physically removed him from the Courthouse at about 8:30 PM Monday. Cheater Bullard had hid in the Courthouse and was discovered by "camping out" on the second floor. Bullard was escorted out of the building like a vagrant. The only reason he was not in the front row was because he was removed from Courthouse property the night before. They should disqualify him.
Quit trying to cover your tracks Cheater.
You know that is a lie and so is the fairy tale about the poor dog. John loved that dog.
ReplyDeleteIt's a tragedy. Good point about this standing in line nonsense Tony.
ReplyDeleteCheater Bullard, Hustler Bullard.
ReplyDeleteAnd "Wind-Scherer". When Scherer showed up, he went bonkers, absolutely psycho, yelling at other candidates for "jumping" line when in fact they had done nothing wrong. Scherer made wild accusations and behaved generally in an unstable manner.
Some people are also talking about possible ties to less-than-honorable east Jackson County "families". Oh, and Scherer is a closet Republican. All of these factors add up to (sing along with me Amy Winehouse) "I tried to make me Sheriff - they said, no, no, no".
Back to Cheater Bullard. After Scherer's tirade Bullard walked out, jumped in his Independence police car, and left.
Wait a minute.
Hold on just one minute.
Did someone see, and did I just write that?
I think so. Someone who would be our sheriff used a police vehicle, resources and money for their own private purposes and personal gain. He drove an official Independence police car out of the city to the filing offices, in another city. Hmm. That's a very big NO-NO. The night before he tried to stay in the building overnight (to be first in line) and was escorted out like a homeless person. Another big NO-NO. And he allegedly was reprimanded for the misuse of funds by the Indpendence police department. Another NO-NO.
Ok, Amy, let's sing together: "Bullard tried to be elected Sheriff....and we said NO, NO, NO!".
I am tired of your campaign manager Mr. Dick talking trash about set ups. It just generates contributions against little Peggy.
ReplyDeleteMauer is the only voice of experience and good government and leadership.
ReplyDeleteMauer for Sheriff!!
ReplyDeletewww.mauerforsheriff.com
ReplyDeleteIf Mauer could only spell or hire a web designer who can spell, he would be a God among Sheriff candidates.
ReplyDeleteHey if anyone needs a bondsman Ive got one in the family.
ReplyDeletePs. It is alot warmer inside of the building than out there in the cold.
Pss. thats the entrance us cops use. See my two years experience back in 1981 paid off already.
So is anyone concerned as to why someone like Sharp who has little actual police expereince wants to be Sheriff? How about why this same person is willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to get the position? Why does he have the support of Dutch Newman?
ReplyDeleteJohn Bullard has been there for the last four years campaigning and working with other sucessful candidates. He is aware of the problems that exist at the Sheriff's Office more then any candidate in the race. He has an opportunity to be Sheriff and make a differance at the department. This is why he has the endoresement of labor from all parts of this county. What endorsements does Mauer, Schere, and Sharp have?
I have heard the rumor that the Sharp family has a very successful bonding company right down the street from the "Jackson County Jail." Sharp has mentioned the county having a backlog of warrants that need to be served The more warrants that are served the more people end up in jail. And those people need to find a good bonding company.
ReplyDeleteOh by the way another family member is a major developer in Eastern Jackson County. If the folks can't bond out rumor has it Daddy can build a jail big enough to keep them in.
bullard for sheriff,i don't think so.the independence police dept is the worst.he is anti gun for citizens.i am a resident of independence and know what i am talking about.john bullard,no thanks.
ReplyDeleteSharp for Sheriff. What a joke. He had a whole two years of experience from 1981 to 1983 then was only a reserve officer for the rest of the time.
ReplyDeleteSharp is a joke. Since his election Jackson County has suffered deaply. It's obvious there is some financial mis-management within the sheriffs dept. and Jackson County as well. Jackson county as a whole is being run like they run sugar creek, WHICH EVERYONE KNOWS IS THE EPITOME OF CORRIPTION! Sharp should resign and consider work more conducive to his two years of experience.
