Things are clearly getting rough in "The White Part of town." Check it:
An off-duty police officer was shot in the Northland overnight.Damn, that's pretty rough. Both people shot have non-life-threatening injuries so that's cool but it doesn't offer any further incentive to go see the great cultural wasteland that is the Northland of Kansas City.
The officer was shot while trying to track down two robbers at an apartment complex, police said . . . Police said a taxi driver reported being robbed and injured around 11 p.m. Monday by a man and woman at the Englewood Apartments near Northwest Englewood Road and Northwest Waukomis Drive.
The taxi driver found two off-duty policemen and pointed out the couple to the officers.
Capt. Rich Lockhart, of the Kansas City Police Department, said, "During the pursuit, there was an exchange of gunfire between at least one of the suspects and the officers. During that altercation the officer was hit by the suspect's shots. One of the suspects was hit by the officer's shot."
The police needs to spend more time target practicing.
