An Anarchist responds to TKC

Local blogger Chuck angrily responds to TKC . . . Here's some choice quotes uttered by a typical blogger bitter over lack of traffic:
I really didn’t want to blog about this, but a certain attention-starved local blogger who thinks that is clever to add lame pictures of swimsuit models to his blog posts, is saying all kind of sensational, ridiculous crap about protests that are being planned against the racist Minuteman group’s February conference in Kansas City. According to this blogger, anarchists are planning to organize race riots. This local blogger sounds like he got his information about anarchists off of some cereal box . . .
Nope, I've received e-mail from people directly involved in organizing the protest and I'm quoting local anarchists directly along with press releases from the KMA - Which incidentally were never shown to other organizers of the protest against the Minutemen.

In fact, it's the anarchists who are misrepresenting themselves to Latinos only interested in peaceful protest. I've made their clandestine attempts public so this thing won't be a surprise to anyone . . . It's the anarchists who are using weird language, inviting (inciting) people to take "autonomous action" while promising to shut down the Minutemen Convention and it's anarchists who have a reputation for violence NOT organizers of the local Latino Community.

This isn't politics, it's TKC hoping that a community that's already been marginalized by the Mayor won't face further reprisals because of the actions of white college kids that can go back to their suburbs and wealthy families after causing havoc . . . Once again, it's worth noting that these folks clearly don't have the best interests of the Latino Community at heart and any cooperation with them is unwise.

Here's more:
I suspect that he is just trying to diss us anarchists in order to manufacture a bigger controversy. Hey, it works for sport radios, so why not do the same thing for your blog, especially when your swimsuit pictures start putting readers to sleep?

Kansas Mutual Aid, an anarchist group based in Lawrence, is calling for people to protest the Minutemen conference. Sounds like a good idea to me. If a group of racists and white supremacists come to your town, then you would hope that sensible people would protest them. It shouldn’t take a group of anarchists to get some protests rolling against a despicable group that has no business meeting in our community.
Ah, there it is . . . The typical supremacy that arises from so many white people when they are frustrated with people of color who don't fall in line with their orders . . . This part of Chuck's post is just plainly false. It is the KMA who have co-opted protests against the Minutemen.

TKC is simply informing local Latinos that they'll be on the hook for the actions of these people who have a horrible reputation around the Midwest and were kicked out of Greensburg just last year. I'm sure they are wonderful people (not really) but they have plainly already used the tactic of calling for "action" on behalf of unaffiliated people protesting the Minutemen and they are clearly operating under the radar of most of the protest organizers. Put simply, I've already proven that they aren't acting in good faith and the notion that the KMA "started" the movement to protest against the Minutemen is not only untrue but also just a tad condescending and bigoted. Kansas City's Latino Community (who have the most at stake in this issue) have been doing for themselves since anarchists were in Montessori School . . . Sadly, the organizers of this event have been misled by local anarchists and if local Latinos don't watch out they'll be used as cover and human shields for a radical political agenda that doesn't represent anything concerning the Latino Community in Kansas City.

Finally, Rage Against the Machine is overrated . . . That's right. I don't apologize.

  1. I'm afraid your use of rage against the machine is going to completely undermine any credibility you may have had with local anarchists.

Not that you had any to begin with!

  2. Maybe you can get those people on the Plaza who protests against the Iraq War.
You can see how good it does to protest in their case. Four years later and the war is still going on.

Cate probably could hook you up with them.

  3. Do you make this s**t up as you go along?

The KMA kids might be a lot of things (many of which aren't altogether super-duper good), but they're less likely to start a race riot in KC than is Jack Harry.

  4. haha the anarchists aren't above spamming TKC's blog.

  5. These anarchists can take their mangy dogs and American Spirits and suck on it. The comparison to being as radical as Jack Harry is dead on.
And it's true that ROTM has always sucked. Quick, name a good Rage song? Yeah, that's what I thought.

  6. I want to make clear that many of us who are advocating and organizing as anarchists live in midtown and downtown KC. We work here, we have children here and we grew up here. We invited our fellow anti-racists from KS to come in support. We do not want organizations with ties to neo-nazi's here in KC. When the minute men came the first time on the coattails of the Aryan Nation/ John Juba moving their national headquarters here with the National Socialist Party holding their happy birthday hittler party at the berliner bear a few years back, we organized the same way and they left town. This is my town. I am your nieghbor and perhaps your coworker. We are teachers, construction workers, professors, servers, parents etc. and our ages range from teenager to 70 years old. I would appreciate it if you could drop the name calling and threats, ignore that I advocate personal responsibility, anti-authoritarianism and ant-hierarchical values if thats not your thing and stand in solidarity with me if you agree that we do not need a bunch of neo-facisists pretending to be a concerned citizens group in OUR town. although there will undoubtedly be some folks who fit some of these discriptions, anarchists are not hippies, we are not leftisits (we aren't even statists) and we are not college students. You can drop all of your infantile stereo-types. If you would like to know more you are more than welcome to swing-by the Crossroads Infoshop at 31st and Troost and/or attend one of our Anarchist discussion groups. If you like the idea of replacing hierarchy, authoritarianism, coercion and alienation with personal empowerment, DIY ethics and egalitarian social, economic and personal relationships then you may be an anarchist. If you don't want to be bossed around and do want to boss others around than we have more in common than you think. If you believe in personal responsibility and liberty than we've got something to talk about. How we get from here to their involves self defense from authoritarian racists like the minutement.

  7. This is the call out in question by KMA:

The Anti-Uptown Working Group and others in the Kansas City and Lawrence communities ask you to take a stand against racist terror!

The Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, an anti-immigrant armed vigilante group that patrols the U.S./Mexico border, is having their regional leadership conference in Kansas City on Feb 1st and 2nd.

Keep the pressure on: Some calls to action against the Minutemen!

    Please forward widely…

The Anti-Uptown Working Group and others in the Kansas City and Lawrence
communities ask you to take a stand against racist terror!

The Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, an anti-immigrant armed vigilante
group that patrols the U.S./Mexico border, is having their regional
leadership conference in Kansas City on Feb 1st and 2nd.

Anti-Racists and immigrant rights supporters from Kansas City and the
surrounding areas are organizing to stop this meeting from happening!

THREE THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP SHUT DOWN THE MINUTEMEN!

    1) Keep the pressure on venues that are supporting the Minutemen Conference.
The bottom line is that our pressure on the Uptown has created a climate where no major venue in KC will ever work with the Minutemen again after this conference is over.

However, the hotels they are staying in (and there is much reason to believe that one of these hotels is hosting their meeting for the second day of their conference) need to have a clear message sent to them.

The MCDC has rented a block of rooms in the following hotels. We’re calling on any and all people concerned about the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps to bombard these hotels with phone calls:

    a. Marriot – 4445 Main, Kansas City MO, 816-531-3000
    b. Holiday Inn – 1 E. 45th St., Kansas City MO, 816-753-7400
    c. Hyatt Regency Crown Center – 2345 McGee St., Kansas City MO 64108, 816-421-1234
    d. Hampton Inn - 4600 Summit, Kansas City MO, 816-448-4600
    e. Sheraton Suites – 70 W 47th, Kansas City MO, 816-931-4400

When calling, we’re asking people to be specific about their concerns:

-The Minutemen Civil Defense Corps and its members are renting rooms from your hotel
-The Minutemen Civil Defense Corps is an anti-immigrant vigilante organization with ties to international white supremacist organizations.
-The Minutemen are coming to Kansas City to further recruit and strengthen their white supremacist agenda.
-We’re concerned with your hotel’s active support for a white supremacist organization by renting their organization rooms.
-We would ask you to take a stand against racial terror in the KC community by cancelling any and all contracts that you may have the Minutemen or any attendees of their conference.
-If this is impossible, we would ask your hotel to make a public statement denouncing the Minutemen and their tactics and post this at your hotel in a public space.

Of course, in the instances that the Minutemen have rented the rooms as individuals, this won’t be as affective, but we need to demand public statements from these businesses.

    2) On Friday, Feb 1st, people will meet at 4PM at Cristo Rey School (211 W. Linwood BLVD) in Kansas City and then march to the Uptown Theater (3700 Broadway St), the location of the first day of the Minutemen meeting. We are calling for you to come and join the people of Kansas City in response to the Minutemen’s racist action in our community.

    3) The following day, Saturday, Feb 2nd, the Minutemen will be holding their membership-only meeting to discuss and determine their plans for 2008. This meeting will be crucial to the ability of the Minutemen to continue to function as an organization.

In response, Kansas Mutual Aid is calling on fellow anti-racists to converge on the location (TBA as these details become available, but keep this date open if you want to participate in actions to shut them down) of the meeting and help us “build a wall against racism”. We will shut this meeting down!

More details will be announced as they become available. There is room for a variety of tactics, and we are calling on anyone wishing to confront racism to join us. We encourage people to form affinity groups and take autonomous action.

We ask for autonomous action from affinmity groups because we are anarchists and thus eschew hierarchical organizing. It's a simple matter. I see nothing in this call out to bolster your hysterics Tony. Good luck with your career ala Limbaugh -He too claims that he's just an entertainer when his bullshit is called into question. A Joke humour blog my ass... you act like a fucking chump.
