Kansas City Dream Wall

Close to downtown, I walked past a wall with a bunch of writing during the summer but from a distance it just looked like the scribblings of junkie hippies so I didn't want to get any closer.

Turns out it was a Kansas City cooperative art project with support from a local business.

Earlier this year, on a building located at 125 SW Boulevard a great many people were invited to write their messages, dreams and hopes for the future.

Surprisingly, there wasn't a lot of dumb sex references (because I didn't participate) and the writing mostly looks as if people wrote messages encouraging peace.

Kansas City Paint features more than 260 photos of the wall.

The JedShed also filed a pretty comprehensive post regarding the project.

Wall space and corporate backing for the quote wall (of sorts) came from Missouri Bank.

I haven't been by the area to see if the writing remains but this video captures the messages nicely.
