South Metro Connector Standoff

A highway/parkway connecting Cass County and southern Johnson County has met with some stiff opposition. Nullus.

EKC writes that The South Metro Opposition Coalition (SMOC) is a well-funded, grassroots group of residents from the affected area "who feel this road will lead to sprawl and premature development in a rural area more suited to nature reserves and hiking trails than strip malls and subdivisions."

In other words, they're the latest group from the South KC area who will be paved over . . . Unless the JoCo side can make progress with their elected officals - Folks on the KC side know that there's no way to thwart lucrative construction contracts along with secret biz deals progress.
