Lovable Larry Johnson agrees to six more years of late season disappointments

KSHB reports that "King Pink" (ugh) was back at camp today and has agreed in principle to six more seasons with the Chiefs.
NBC Action Sports has learned that Chiefs running back Larry Johnson has agreed in principle to terms of a six-year deal with the team.

A source close to the team told NBC Action Sports that Johnson was at practice Tuesday morning greeting his teammates with high-fives.

No word yet on the financial terms of the agreement.
Obviously, Johnson didn't get the kind of money he was looking for given that he's going back to the Chiefs without even as much as a serious rumor that he was headed any place else. Last I heard from the contract negotiations was that KC stopped returning his calls with the number got toward 17 mil . . . So obviously, Johnson decided that he's going to end his career in Kansas City given that running backs who are forced to carry the ball (heh) as much as LJ don't last very long. Too bad the guy had to grab ankle for the Chiefs on this deal . . . On the bright side, rumor has it that it's not a position with which he is unaccustomed.

P.S. The 45 Million Dollar number they're reporting is a fantasy.

  1. The guys isn't an idiot. He knows his own running style and that his career will likely be pretty damn short as a result. Good for him for making bank. Too bad for the Chiefs for not trading him when they had the chance.

Could always be worse. At least we don't have to cheer on Oakland this year.

  2. Jocksniffers all around the metro rejoice. They can forget about their own sad and meaningless lives and get behind the Chiefs Mediocrity Express. All aboard!!!!

  4. The average nfl career of a running back is 4 years.

It is not just the chiefs. Look at Billy Sims, Terrell Davis, The tyler rose, etc.
