Funky passes the buck on police protection

Here's one more mishandled issue that the Mayor is putting on somebody else . . . The KCPD is now in charge of determining the right amount of police protection for the Mayor - It's a good move and something he should have done in the first place rather than having the Police Chief field frantic phone calls FROM GLORIA SQUITIRO whenever Mayor Funky had to speak in front of minority audiences.
Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser has asked the police chief to determine the correct level of security to provide at town hall meetings.

Funkhouser’s wife, Gloria Squitiro, earlier had requested police protection at certain town hall meetings that she thought might turn tense and disruptive.

She attracted some criticism because those audiences were composed primarily of minority residents.

Funkhouser sent a memo asking Police Chief Jim Corwin to make those judgments in the future.
Thankfully, this relatively simple task has been put to rest . . . As for establishing any kind of credibility in Kansas City's minority community when the first move for Funky's wife is to call the cops on people of color; Let's just say that the Mayor has a long way to go.
