Let's hear it for the KC Public library!!!

A big thank you goes out to the folks at the Kansas City Public Library who have taken it to the next level as far as information on the local/regional Internets is concerned.

Lately, the local library has been touting a database project called KCResearch. The goal of the project is to compile quality research documents about regional issues and deliver them via a free website at www.kcresearch.org.

I've played around with the thing for about a day (nullus) and there are a ton of documents that are available in PDF format.

Additionally, the project also has a blog . . . KC Research Blog is part of an effort to "solicit input about the project, and also to provide a platform for conversation about the content of KCResearch."

One of the neat features of their blog is that they aggregate content from local blogs with far fewer pussy jokes than I provide.

All things considered, it's a pretty amazing Internet/blog effort from the local library which managed to include local bloggers rather than co-opt them or completely ignore them like most media outlets and politicos have done.

Finally, it's nice to see that the KC Public Library is reinventing themselves for the age of the Internet where (THANKFULLY) you don't have to endure the urine smelling bums or all of the old books on the stacks to make use of some of the important services that this beloved KC institution provides.
