More on KC's GANG WAR

Here are a few more details on what's being described as a Gang War in Kansas City that the KCPD is fighting and local politicos are ignoring:
Police think at least two factions are behind the back-and-forth shootings, which may have begun Friday. Monday’s fatal drive-by shooting, in which gunmen fired 50 rounds at a group of men in front of a tire shop and then fired at police officers, might have been retaliation for the Friday shooting, police said. Eliseo Thomas died in the Monday shooting. Three others were injured.

Some of the victims in Monday's crime near 30th Street and Agnes Avenue were believed to be affiliated with a gang.

Three shootings followed Tuesday, with the victims of each crime alternatively affiliated with opposing gangs.

Police were looking to arrest known affiliates of the gangs to quell the violence.
Another interesting note on the story is that local gang members basically have police "out gunned" given the fact that the KCPD carry handguns and shotguns while quite a few 223-caliber and .40-caliber rifles have been confiscated in recent months.

And while I don't necessarily want the police carrying more powerful weapons it would be nice if local gang members weren't either.

Time for another round of the KC Gun experiment? Anyone? It's not like people who carry illegal guns constitute a huge voting bloc and they probably have even less pull than those of us who properly care for and own pit bulls.

  1. 50 rounds and only 4 went down?

guess our city's lucky the ganbsters have such shitty aim.

  2. I'd rather them have better aim, so that they can kill each other off faster without hitting as many innocent bystanders.

  3. I agree scootrj let the boys be boyz. Less work for police more business for Funeral Homes and Cemetaries. Same can be said for War in Iraq.

  4. You know, before you speak on something, you should know what the hell you are talking about. I knew Eliseo really well, and he was not a gang member. As a matter of fact, gangs don't exist in the traditional sense in Kansas City anymore. So step out of the 90's. People's lives are valuable, regardless of their background. Wishing that young black men will "kill each other off faster" is a demonstration of the ignorance and lack of regard for humanity that plagues the United States today. Everyone from the ghetto isn't ghetto. I was raised on 42nd and Agnes in KC, and I am 3 semesters froma PhD, because people took time to encourage my success and show me the world outside of the 'hood.

  5. "Success outside of the hood" isn't illustrated by guys rolling around looking for trouble with guns, drugs, and alcohol. It seems we have moved into the day where nothing negative should ever be said about people no matter how wrong their actions are.

Good riddance and may anyone else who gets involved with this same type of nonsense share the same fate.
