Protecting kids from someone other than their mothers

Alexa's law is a bill recently passed in the Kansas State House and is designed to protect unborn victims of violent crimes. Yet, there's a chance this legislation could be twisted to prevent expectant mothers from killing their kids and that just wouldn't make sense at all as the value of human life is completely dependent on something as fickle and incomprehensible as a woman's mood.
