Hyper Sniper Hella Good

Because a local rapper from Wyandotte County isn't a hipster favorite, he doesn't spread a message of diversity and tolerance (thank God) and he actually has a decent sized fan base without pandering to local ankle grabbing music critics . . . The guy obviously doesn't get a lot of press despite his great work.

Put simply the KC area's own Hyper Sniper is damn good but you wouldn't know it if you relied on local bar gossiping writers to let you in on the not so well kept secret.

The guy's music is hard hitting. The rapping is staccato, well paced and reminiscent of some of my favorite music from the days of way back like Too Short, DJ Quick and Scarface.

By far the best track Hyper Sniper has produced is called "So Serious" and it's featured prominently on his myspace page. It's good stuff and the beat, lyrics and melody should be familiar to anyone who has pulled up to a stoplight and tried to casually avoid eye contact with the guy blasting this sort of music from the car in the next lane.

Overall I'd say that the music of The Sniper Man is refreshingly unpolished in a way that reminds me of the days when mixtapes and other bootleg material weren't considered to be crimes tantamount to terrorism and hip-hop music had yet to face it's inevitable demise in the face of hipster fans and glamor MTV cross over coverage. Incidentally, I should probably warn you that the Hyper Sniper is a white guy who uses the N-word a lot, but if that kind of thing really bothers you . . . You probably aren't a fan of rap music, Quentin Tarantino movies or anything more gruff than emo bands singing about their ex-girlfriends.

  1. That's right, Tony. Keep marginalizing your message. Too hip to be hip.

  2. Once someone said 'Lindsay Lohan' i was done. Also I'm pretty sure I can make that lame beat on my phone. No thanks.

Here's a couple of local artists that aren't lame:

    Joe Good
    CES Cru
    Miles Bonny
    Soul Servers

    You're welcome.

  3. addendum:

I'm bothered by anybody White who drops N bombs, weak rapper or not. I've never seen this dude performing anywhere I'm at, but I'm sure there is a high probabilty of him getting his ass kicked by (actual)Black people.

    as you were.

  4. and god said, "let there be intolerant suburbanite assholes"

  5. 1) Blue Springs is not in Wyandotte County. Nobody who lives in Blue Springs has any right to rap about how everyone else is a poser. I mean, points for comic irony, but no thanks.

    2) The music is not very good anyway.

  6. Intolerance is Tony's mantra. You need not look so far as the suburbs find such attitudes. In fact, the intolerance for anything suburban by many on this blog far outweighs even the so-called bigotry eminating from JoCo.

  7. Damn Tony, is this a joke? You can't be serious. You're comparing this dude's casio beats to the stylings of the man DJ Quik(notice there's no "c")? I could withstand about 16 seconds of "so serious".

BTW, Who's his meth head weed carrier in profile pic?

"Refreshing and unpolished" was a very diplomatic way of saying that this dude sucks beyond belief. He need to hook up w/ Denny Blaze from the don't h8 posts.

  8. Punk bitches like their hipster rap. You fucking dorks don't know real street sounds if they bit you the pussy. Hate on fuck nuts.

  9. Fucking pussy ass bloggers don't like nothing but what's on Top 40. You should all eat a dick that ain't yo daddy's.

  10. The last two 'comments' read like JoCo White boys playing gangster under the anonymity of the internet (will it ever end?). Rife with cussing to mask a lack of an adult vocabulary.

Hell, might even be 'sniper man' and his handler (no homo?) sadly trying to see who jocking them besides Tony.

    get your skills up.

  11. are yall serious? blue springs school district did a shoddy job of educating you 'wanksters'. yeah, keep repping 'hard' tricking the other lame white kids from posh suburbs that don't know any better. who the fuck else could your target audience be when you name drop lindsey lohan?

"You fucking dorks don't know real street sounds if they bit you the pussy" i'm gonna call shenanigans on the 'fucking dorks' from blue springs that claim to rep hard core rap, but (once again) name drops lindsey lohan. your shit is funny like clown farts. love the gimmick, not so much.

hyper sniper is ghey. all homo. tony, you need your face slapped for dropping this terd. hyper sniper's shit wouldn't even sell out of the trunk of his mom's SUV.

  12. KC is full of nothing but haterz. You all should really get off Hype's nuts.

  13. Wow! I'm feeling the love guys LOL. "Blue Springs" this and "Wyco" that, yeah if you read the bio at thesniperman.com it gives a brief history, including the fact that I was born and raised in Wyandotte.

But I don't even think that's the real issue. I think you would hate me no matter what I have to say, whether it's nigga or not. Because I don't make family friendly hip-hop, it's garbage huh. If you were from where I'm from, this music is not only accepted but advocated. Even if I didn't cuss and didn't *oh my god!!!* drop the "N-bomb" you would find another excuse to hate me. But being how I have incredible site traffic and people coming to my concerts, it appears your "wigger" bashing goes as far as your computer keyboards, falling short before my ticket sales.

As for the beat, I didn't even produce it and that is an Xzibit instrumental.. sooo, ouch I guess the beat-bashing hurts my feelings.

Sorry if my presence in the Kansas City area lowers your per capita income. We can't all be upper class yuppies with 6-figure salaries. Some of us come from humble beginnings.

    Oh yeah. Fuck you. Thanks!

  14. fuck F-bombs calling you a nigga would be a compliment. Suck a dick you writerly bitch. Close that book and work off your bitch tits.

  15. oh yeah i almost forgot... see, in music we do these things called "metaphores" altough most of the time, they're really similies that get called metaphors.

"get FREAKY on FRIDAY like lindsay lohan" yes this was a metaphore. apparently it flew right over your heads. i can't dumb down the music though. sorry :(

    ReplyDelete
  16. wtf is a "metaphore"? please put me up on what a "similie" is too. not to point out your illiteracies, but just saying you should know something before you try and educate someone else.

and i'm sure it'd be hard to dumb down your lyrics anymore cause that shit is ghey. it doesn't have to be family friendly either.....just have something slightly resembling substance. unless of course you're working towards top40 commercial success. cause i'm willing to bet that d4l makes "similies" and "metaphores" deeper than yours.

for the record, i live in south kansas city, had humble beginnings, don't make six-figures, and am black. also please note that miles bonny and ubi from ces cru are not black. talent knows no color. it also apparently doesn't know your address.

"get FREAKY on FRIDAY like lindsey lohan."-- weakest shit ("metaphore") EVER. feel free to quote me.

    ReplyDelete
  17. LOL.. feel free to quote you? and who should I cite the reference to, anonymous' cousin? wow, nothing like hiding behind the safety of your keyboard with a lame pseudonym. a real testament to your tough guy attitude. "anonymous"

i have come to the realisation that it's futile for me to try to defend myself on this blog site introduced to me earlier today. for every comeback i have, you'll have some rebuttal. for every myth i bust about me (you all seem to know me soooo well by the way), you'll come up with something else. so i'll end it with this note... Garth Brooks, the famous country singer.. this guy has sold millions upon millions of albums, sold out venues all over the country, and is a music icon. but if you give me a Garth CD i'll laugh at you and throw it away. it's just not my taste, not my style.

"so you're comparing yourself to garth brooks now OMG!!!" no i'm not, you're missing the point. the point is, there's no one artist that will satisfy the masses. it's not possible. some peope love garth brooks, and the beatles, and elvis pressley, and even jefferson airplane. i don't. all of you critics went out of your way to hate on me but this Tony guy didn't, and that's the people i make music for. my audience doesn't listen to the backpacker hip-hop shit on the jump off, they like raw shit and yep, they like my music. and i'll keep making it whether you like it or not. i win.

    thanks tony.

  19. I think Hyper Sniper's music is pretty damn awesome. He doesn't have do do anything to kiss anyone's ass, he does his music for himself. If you ever get the chance to see him live you would see how he is such a natural born performer. I'm glad someone finally took the time to write a review about him. I know him personally and he eats, sleeps and breathes his music. If you have an open mind you should really check him out!!

  23. just to clear things up sniper...

It's no you "message" that I hate, or your style. I like everything from Common, Brotha Lynch, Jeru to UGK. It's just that you can't rap, no matter what genre you want to put it under. Your beats are sub par, almost to where I wondered if your whole persona was joke...seriously...you are not good, at all.
