Who cares who they like? The opposite of influence demonstrated by bogus endorsements

The Citizens Association once again proves that they are worthless by announcing their picks of all the usual suspects and run of the mill politicos who infest this town.

The Citizens Association choices:

First District In-District: Bill Skaggs (incumbent)

First District At-Large: Deb Hermann (incumbent)

Second District In-District: Russ Johnson

Second District At-Large: Ed Ford

Third District In-District: Teola Powell

Third District At-Large: Melba Curls

Fourth District In-District: Jan Marcason

Fourth District At-Large: Beth Gottstein

Fifth District In-District: Terry Riley (incumbent)

Fifth District At-Large: Cindy Baker Circo

Sixth District In-District: Darrell Curls

Sixth District At-Large: Cathy Jolly

I'm especially disappointed with their 4th District picks not only because these two women are more experienced at holding cocktails then keeping up with current events in KC but also because Mayor Kay has proven that women in City Hall just impose their bad habits on the entire citizenry like running up debt and getting in bed with every sleazebag with money who comes their way.

  1. The Citizen's Association hasn't been made up of "citizens" for a long time. That broom they talk about needs to be turned on themselves.

The CA, the Women's Political Coven, err I mean Caucus, Four Freedoms and the CCP are all made up of the usual cast of characters. They only exist to convince themselves that they are relevant.

  2. Beth Gottstein is going to be a great Council person. But you're right about Marcason - Mark Forsythe is the clear choice.

  3. Exactly what do you base your endorsement of Gottstein on Dan? Considering that she has virtually NO EXPERIENCE in any leadership role in KC and seems to be running on her ability to look good in a business suit.

However, I do agree with you in regard to Forsythe.

  4. Experience? Whodathunk you'd be arguing that we have to turn to the same crop of old politicoes to continue their death-grip on power on this city?

Serving on the city council is not so wildly complex and difficult that you need to have tons of experience to do a good job. You need to have good judgment and a willingness to get involved. Beth's experience at the foundation exposed her to the problems all over Kansas City, and introduced her to the players.

I'm not saying anything against any of her opponents, but she's going to win, and she'll do a fine job.

  5. So now do each of these people give money to the Citizens Committee for the endorsement?
The 4th is screwed if we have to have business suit women who will probably charge makeup to their campaign committees just Shields did. $750.00 in makeup didn't do the job for her.
Ugly souls still shine through the best you can buy.

  6. What's really sad is that our pathetic excuse for a "news" paper is using the CA as their introduction and interview of the candidates. What reporter thinks their job is complete after attending a corrupt club's vetting of candidates? I would like to see one of the star's political reporters get up off their ass and do some real interviews - on either side of the state line. Of course, that would mean they'd have to wake up and do some research about what the issues are. It's good to know that someday the star will go out of business as new media takes over.

  7. Dan,

Gottstein and Marcason are the same candidate. Both WPC/CCP hack man-haters. You attack Tony for not supporting Gottstein, yet you agree on Mark Forsythe? That makes no sense.

Tancredi at-large and Forsythe in-district are both grass roots candidates. Gottstein and Marcason are sellout machine candidates for sale to the highest bidder.

I'm not attacking Tony! I was just seeing if there's a reason he's riding her so hard. Apparently, there isn't, and he's just having his usual fun, which I generally enjoy. I'd never attack Tony - when my site is working (damn you, 1and1), he sends visitors my way.

My reason for commenting was to seek some information. So far, there isn't any information beyond name-calling. (Man-hater? "Sellout machine candidate"? WTF does that crap even mean?)

Like I said, I've got nothing against the other candidates, so I'm not trashing Tancredi, whom I've never met, or Marcason. Forsythe and Gottstein are two people who I know will work hard, be up to speed on the issues, and use good judgment. I'm genuinely sorry if that doesn't make sense to you.

  9. I think it is time we have a Latino on the City Council. Zeke Amador has been active state wide in positive efforts and city wide throughout the community. That is grassroots. Not some guy that posts on a blog and claims he's grassroots. After all I can think of a ton of Republicans who claim "they run a grassroots campaign" when we all know it's big business money.
