The Jackson County legislative auditor recently asked for more time in order to figure out how Kathryn Shields lost an ass load of money among other things.
Auditor Kelly Markham Stegall said she needed more time to complete her review of County Executive Katheryn Shields' use of more than $2 million in bond funds. The extra time might allow County Executive-elect Mike Sanders to figure out where budget cuts are going to come from in order to possibly balance the $6.2 million dollar deficit which I'll now lovingly refer to as Kathryn Shields' huge, unfortunate crevice.
Cautioning that the numbers were preliminary, Sanders and his transition team forecast cuts of 5 percent to 7 percent for all county operations, if the burden were to be spread equally.Actually, trimming a little (a lot) of fat at the County isn't necessarily a bad idea, I only feel sorry for all of those assistants who once belonged to Queen Kathryn but now might have trouble getting similar work as chauffeurs.
Sanders promised to try to produce a more detailed budget document by Jan. 8. He would not speculate when asked later whether that could mean any job cuts.
