What was once taken for granted as a somewhat of a hipster and film geek Kansas City tradition, sadly The Chucky Lou AV Club is coming to an end. An adoring write up from The Pitch sums it up nicely:

The late-night movie series that's had more fun with exploitation than anyone since the days of United Fruit. He's shown Black Vengeance and Viva Knievel, put on drive-in triple features and programmed gobstopping anthology shows — old, racist cartoons or collections of movie trailers so sleazy that audience members had to line up for tetanus shots afterward.

The guy behind the campy film fest is/was Gary Huggins who is retiring the endeavor in order to concentrate on his own film projects like his recent short First Date.
