One of the biggest development booms in Overland Park's history is just beginning following Monday night's City Council approval of three high-profile projects. A. Nelessen Associates will develop a community vision plan for Metcalf from I-35 to 123rd Street, about nine miles. Sprint Nextel and Overland Park (I guess) are building yet another shopping complex and the city is planning to build 12 tournament-caliber soccer fields north of the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead.
All of the construction is soon to get underway whereas the realization that it won't alleviate the emptiness, isolation and uniformity of suburban existence is a little ways off.

ReplyDeleteBetter to be empty and uniform in a place with great schools, great retail, lots of parks and open space, 10% of the murders of KC, and a free facility like Deanna Rose than to have to live in Tony's city of deathversity.

anonymous - you obviously don't know what your talking about. The zoo costs and arm and a leg to attend and have concessions, etc. Deanna Rose is free and is clean and is run by donations and volunteers for the good of the community. I also routinely see Missouri license plates and urban groups from both KS and MO use it for kids field trips.
I forgot that JoCo redidents are a bunch of welfare bastards that want everything for free.
ReplyDeleteIf you want free in Jackson Co, you also have Fort Osage, Missouri Town, and we have more open park land than any other county in Missouri or Johnson County.
So hey welfare mom/dad, quit riding the welfare gravy train, get a job and actaully PAY for ticket instead of waiting for a handout.
