Stealing big money and getting very little jail time is just one reason why nearly everyone thinks committing crime in a suit is classy. The KC Biz Journal reports: Phillip D. Thomas, 50, was sentenced before District Judge Gary Fenner to 24 months in prison and was ordered to pay $6,309,277.20 in restitution, Thomas pleaded guilty April 27, 2005, to three charges, including conspiring to fraudulently obtain about 177 loans on properties in the amount of more than $12 million from mortgage companies between May 1999 and June 28, 2002, in Kansas City and Lee's Summit. Special Bonus: He only had to pay half back? Nice. I doubt many bank robbers or gangsters have 6 mil waiting for them when they get out of the can.
